  1. More from Diana Russini... I got the sense from her article that if anybody is in danger, it's more likely to be Frank Reich than Scott Fitterer. I get the same sense from this video clip. At the very least she talks about ownership "having discussions". That's not Tepper talking to himself and I wouldn't bet on it being Tepper talking to Nicole either. But could it be Tepper talking to the front office? Yeah, I think that sounds logical.
  2. Wouldn't necessarily say a guru, but a good OC. Brown is a first-time OC, and perhaps he can succeed but it's also possible he's just not ready. If they replace him, they could go with another first-timer but my sense is it might be smarter to go with someone experienced.
  3. Yep, and it's pretty common in a West Coast style offense. We just don't have lineman that are suited for it. We have road grader types when WCOs typically employ smaller, more agile guys.
  4. Finances fall under Samit Suleiman. Fitterer's experience is primarily draft related, though he was given free reign by Tepper to build the front office as he saw fit. That includes the hires of Dan Morgan, Adrian Wilson, Cole Spencer and others as well as promotions of existing people like Rob Hanrahan and departures like Pat Stewart. Personnel decisions are, by all accounts, collaborative between front office and coaching.
  5. I've been a fan of Schultz since he was with the Cowboys.
  6. He might be better suited for that game. At the pro level, so far it looks like his best position is as a quarterback coach.
  7. It's possible that the combination of Daboll as OC and Dorsey as QB coach was just a lot more effective than the current setup...for all parties, honestly.
  8. The top thing that I got out of the article is that he needs a really good OC, which honestly isn't a startling revelation. In our case he went with an up-and-coming coach who'd never really been a full NFL OC before. Might have been better off to go with somebody experienced.
  9. The most easily fixable thing right now would be the scheme. We've seen no indication that there are going to be major changes to that though.
  10. Likely for the same reason that Pamela Anderson's breasts won't look saggy when she's 72
  11. Also wouldn't make much sense to be scared of deep passing when you know the quarterback is likely to be put on his back long before anything like that can even develop...
  12. It's been brought up by several analysts and someone (Sheena Quick I think) asked a question about it in Reich's most recent press conference. His response was that they had no intention of going "smashmouth". Whether it's come up internally or not though, no idea. I do know that Diana Russini said Panthers brass are trying to get Reich to run something closer to Young's college offense (more RPOs and such).
  13. We've talked before about skill sets. There are brilliant doctors who can't balance their checkbooks... High priced lawyers who don't understand simple home maintenance... Orators who can deliver stirring speeches but stink at interpersonal communication... ...and plenty of other examples. Even if you're in intelligent person, you might not necessarily have the skill set needed to accomplish certain tasks. I'd say that sums up David Tepper pretty well.
  14. A typical West Coast offense will feature receivers and backs who can take a short pass for a long gain along with at least one deep threat receiver to spread the field. We don't really have that. The one part of a good WCO that we do have is a reliable possession receiver in Adam Thielen.
  15. He is when it comes to football. And as mentioned above, it's not just the Panthers that are showing signs of a toxic environment. Pretty much all of his sports ventures have shown the same issues.
  16. Allen is the prototypical "big arm" guy who can also run. Fans love that kind of quarterback, but history shows their success has limitations.
