Which could conceivably be a reason to keep Tremble. (he'd be competing with Ricci for that role)

Oh, I can be wrong. I'm just not in this case As to your understanding, the phrase "trying to spin athleticism into ability or skill" tells me that either you didn't understand the argument or you don't know what "spin" means in that context. You can tell me which it is. I'll try to sum it up one more time to see if it helps: Rhule prioritized athleticism. Reich prioritizes football skills. That doesn't mean that either of them negates other characteristics. It's just a matter of heirarchy. And again, he notion that you can't compare two quarterbacks just because of where they were drafted is just silly. Ask the guys who drafted Tom Brady in the 6th

He did way more than a Little (granting that's a low standard)

Oy Yes, believe it or not guys that are picked in different rounds who play the same position can in fact be compared with regard to skill set, physical differences and other things. I'd add that your second paragraph pretty much shows you're not understanding the argument, so...

Production might not be the best word. Think ability, or skill if you prefer. It makes sense when you think of the difference between what a college coach recruits and what a professional coach looks for. At the college level, they're taking raw athletes and teaching them to play football. In the pros, you want guys who know how to play to do specific jobs and suit certain rules. And yes, the contrast between Young and Corral's respective skill sets (and college careers) provides a pretty good illustration.

From reading the article, it's not just that. Remember back when Rhule was in charge we discussed how much he loved athleticism. Everyone had to have a great athletic score for him. But in the discussion of Brandon Smith, for example, Person points out that Smith didn't necessarily have great college production. He was drafted on that athleticism that Rhule loved. Reich seems to prefer guys that have shown they can produce on the field. That's not to say everybody drafted under Rhule has a target on their back. Pre-season would tell you there are some they like. They just have to be able to show up on game day rather than look great and drills. Bottom Line: Rhule wanted athletes.Reich wants football players. Hell, you can see that in the distinction between the quarterbacks they drafted.

Via The Athletic... Like all the players on this list, Tremble was drafted under the Matt Rhule regime; Reich’s staff could have a different view of his skill set and ceiling. Per his discussion of potential "surprise cuts" (all of which are prior draftees) Person seems to think players drafted during Matt Rhule's time as head coach might have a tough time sticking around under Frank Reich. And yeah, that's logical: different head coach, different criteria and priorities. Exceptions would be highly drafted guys like Jaycee Horn, Derrick Brown and maybe a few others.

Person says he's got the right athletic traits but hasn't really distinguished himself. To be honest, Person seems to believe that guys drafted under the Rhule era might have a hard time sticking in general.

Some speculation here...

I'll always remember that video of the Bills war room laughing when we took him. Funny to think one of the guys in that clip works for us now

Appears some 49er faithful aren't particularly pleased with how Kyle Shanahan handled their #3 picked quarterback...
-
More Bears QB talk...
-
Arnold honestly wasn't bad. He just also wasn't great.
-
Pretty sure it's short for "Takkarist". Yeah
-
He didn't believe the story but found out it's true.
-
Hard to say... nothing really to go on
-
But at least there's this...
-
Back when it happened, the story was that the two of them didn't discuss their final decisions till Draft Day and they agreed on Lance. I've seen it suggested that maybe Shanahan might have preferred Jones but I've never read anything definitive.

Word was Rhule had become a fan. That's about all I know.
