  1. Look at the Giants this season. And no, I absolutely expect improvement. I just know that it's not likely going to happen in two games. Hell, even on a non-rebuilding team, you don't get a genuine sense of how good or bad you are until around mid-season. That's why early conclusions all too often wind up looking dumb. We don't even have to go that far back to see an example. Just think back a couple of years to when we started off looking like a playoff team with Sam Darnold at quarterback and tell me how that worked out.
  2. Oy Yeah, not gonna hold my breath waiting for that to happen
  3. Don't know, but he's been posting some really crazy stuff. Meanwhile, Stephen A Smith and Terrell Owens are having a massive Twitter fight and Antonio Brown is posting about CTE in a way that makes it almost sound like he's bragging about having it. Oy
  4. Yes I know, it happened how you think it did regardless of what anybody who was actually there says. I've generally assumed you know how dumb that actually sounds, but I'm not so sure anymore.
  5. Sorry, but all of this is basically panic talk. It's year one with a new staff, new schemes, a new quarterback, etc. The idea that this is some sort of time for urgency is just unrealistic and emotion driven. Demanding that guy's succeed and turn everything around in one year was the MO of a senile Al Davis. That's not someone whosr methods I'd like to copy.
  6. Sorry dude, but the molded statement is just clueless. There's not a single NFL team out there with all pros of every position. Hell there's not even any out there without at least one week unit. That's the reality of salary cap football with a talent pool spread across 32 teams. The reality is we went for a franchise quarterback at a time when we believed one was available. Had we not, people would be screaming about that more so than anything else. We've had the discussion waitinh till next year to get our franchise QB a million times on this board. It's just not a solid strategy. When one is available, and you have the ability to get them by whatever means, you do it...and we did. Any suggestion that we should have waited even longer than we already have is, shall we say, not going to be a popular argument. (nor should it be)
  7. Yeah, that's a pretty big reach. The best O-Line we had was in 2015. And putting the blame for all of Cam's issues on Benjamin is a silly argument that we've discussed many a time. If you want to fix blame on somebody for Newton's issues, Ron Rivera makes a lot more sense. But realistically, it's not all on any one person. Nor is Newton himself completely blameless. That may not be what the "feels" tell you, but letting your emotions rule your logic isn't a good practice anyway.
  8. Portraying a new staff and young quarterback's second game in as a must win is what you call "not panicking"? At no point did the team try to sell anybody on the idea that we were going to be dominant from day one. The idea of an all-star staff and a new rookie quarterback was valid, and everyone said they were going to try and win immediately. But key on that word "try". Fans having unrealistic expectations isn't the team's fault. It's the fans' fault
  9. Some of us don't even have to wait that long 🫥
  10. Your timeline is way off, dude. Gettleman was fired in 2017. Newton was still around until Rhule was hired. No real guarantee of that given Newton's playing style. Nor does it really matter anymore. And no, it doesn't mean anybody "deserves" to suffer for it. This is football, not justice.
  11. Rhule was Tepper's call, assisted by Marty Hurney and Steven Drummond. With Reich, Tepper largely abstained from the search. He didn't even take part in the final vote.
  12. You kinda have to look at it as a braintrust. For his first two offseasons, Fitterer was tasked with getting the kind of guys Matt Rhule wanted for his systems. Now we've got entirely different coaches and systems, hence why some guys acquired previously don't fit anymore. That doesn't mean everyone needs to go, but it does mean we're starting from scratch more so than some realize.
  13. Except for his first season because most of free agency was over before Morgan was hired.
  14. Oh sure. I mean it's perfectly reasonable to just ask any good players we have on our team to wait around till we're "ready" to draft that guy. Good grief dude, this isn't Madden
  15. Yeah, talking about what a franchise or fans "deserve" is silly in general. But as far as Newton, pretty much nobody associated with his career even works here anymore, so I don't know who's supposed to "deserve" anything.
  16. Look at the original post in this thread and you'll see something really ridiculous.
  17. Yeah, apparently he's a bit of a misfit. Realistically, he's not talented enough for coaches to put up with his bullsh-t.
  18. He's already got a shoulder injury. Couldn't throw at all this week up till today. That's a huge concern for a quarterback, especially after just one game. (remember what shoulder issues did to Newton)
  19. David Carr through his full career showed that wasn't a sustainable model. (Joe Burrow is showing it too)
