After two games? At the time, there wasn't any indication of such a thing. It didn't manifest till later. And by that time, Casillas had moved on to a different forum (which is where the current discussions are happening).
-
"Word play", eh? Funny thing... Guess I called it
-
Yeeeeah...there's not actually anything in that post (dated back in September) that supports your argument. Not surprising, though... And the conversation with Casillas on this topic didn't happen on the Huddle.
-
Understood.
-
I'll look for it. He's a name I've seen mentioned here a lot but never recall him actually being contacted.
-
The idea was never that Fitterer would stay as a GM co-GM. It was that he'd take an alternate position away from the personnel duties. The fact that you couldn't comprehend that is where the issues started. Apparently, Fitterer's name makes you emotional
-
Borgonzi interviewed? I don't remember seeing that. I know Tilis did but I thought it was only once.
-
Or you're a guy who takes credit for stuff other people say, while also reframing arguments of those you debate so that they appear to say what they actually didn't, which I've seen some evidence of. Of course, the next part of your MO is to accuse people of things what you actually do, which I'm guessing probably comes next.
-
As mentioned, there's way more to the GM job than just personnel and scouting. What Casillas suggested could happen would do two things... 1) Remove Fitterer from all personnel decisions 2) Free up a new GM to concentrate on personnel without having to worry about the other stuff That doesn't necessarily sound like a bad idea to me, but you still have to deal with Fitterer being involved in the chicanery that helped get Frank Reich fired. That, to me, is the tricky part.

Wasn't there previously a sticky post where the mods said they were going to crack down on people sh-tting up threads rather than sticking to the actual topic? Has that emphasis gone by the wayside now?
-
The only thing I've ever truly seen you argue for is the idea that you know things. Unfortunately, that argument falls apart when you actually talk about them Now, do you want to actually look at any of the candidates mentioned here or just continue your usual MO of useless b-tching?
-
As mentioned, Casillas has two sources, which is two more than you do He's known other things before they happened, so I trust his information.
-
What's funny is there's a real "silver lining" type opportunity available here. If he wanted to be smart about it, Tepper could take this as a chance to come out and say "Look, this made me realize just how bad I've handled things and I now understand that I need to step away from the football operations and let the qualified people handle it." I don't necessarily have any indication that will happen, but the opportunity is there.
-
But hey, ummm,about those candidates...
-
The insider in this case would be our buddy Casillas. He has a couple of contacts that work within the organization and he's been able to get info on things before. His bringing this up makes me think it may be a real possibility. Lord it's just useless to talk to you As mentioned, it wasn't my idea nor my suggestion. It was a theory by Casillas regarding what might happen this offseason.
-
The article doesn't mention Borgonzi but does talk about Brandt Tilis, and it's worth noting that he interviewed with us the last time. Mind you, the emphasis for this article is mostly on underrated candidates, the people who aren't getting talked about as much.
-
Perhaps at personnel decisions, but per insiders he's done a good job at the other parts of running the team offices and such and is very well liked throughout the building. So given that knowledge, what would be the problem with committing him to those things, which also then leaves the next GM able to concentrate on personnel matters only?
-
I wouldn't say nobody wants to talk about that. Just a certain triggered few... That people object to the idea of him staying with the team in a non-personnel role just tells me their opinions are more emotional than logical.
-
Are we? I've only seen two or three people actually talk about that in this thread. There's been hardly any mention of the candidates listed. First response was about Fitterer and numerous other posts have stuck to that topic rather than actually talking about anything in the OP.
-
I wish...but no.
-
"Real GM duties" encompasses way more than just personnel decisions. There are dozens of other things involved across every department on the team. That's pretty standard for every team in the league. The idea would be to remove him from personnel decisions but keep him running other areas where he's reported to be doing a good job. As mentioned, that's what a lot of us used to wish would happen with Marty. It's also worth noting that it's a similar arrangement to what they have out in San Francisco. Adam Peters is in charge of anything personnel related while John Lynch handles everything else. As far as I know, we'd be the only other team with that sort of dynamic.
-
Our buddy Casillas had an interesting theory on that... He thinks it's possible Fitterer gets "promoted" to a job where he continues all of his current administrative duties except making personnel decisions. Fitterer Is said to be very well liked within the organization and is good at handling a lot of the day-to-day stuff. This is what a lot of us used to hope would happen to Marty Hurney.

It's specifically about the Commanders likely GM search and is written by a DC beat writer, but the information included applies to us as well. Excerpts regarding a few people of interest, starting with... Adam Peters (Assistant GM, 49ers) The promotion of John Lynch to president of football operations means Peters could land a GM job by staying with the 49ers. A contingent of league sources wonder if that’s the Northern California native’s preferred option. Peters interviewed for the New York Giants’ GM vacancy in 2022 but declined meetings with the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans for their 2023 openings. ... Mention of him declining interviews just last year as well as potentially being in line for the 49ers GM spot makes this one sound highly unlikely. He has said before that being GM of the 49ers is his dream job. Ian Cunningham (Assistant GM, Chicago Bears) Cunningham was tutored in front offices led by former Baltimore Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome and Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman. Those organizations are known for blending tape-watching and data in their player evaluation process. After nine seasons of scouting for the Ravens, Cunningham landed with the Eagles, where he served as director of college scouting (2017-18), assistant director of player personnel (2019-20) and director of player personnel (2021). ... Cunningham interviewed for the Assistant GM job here before Dan Morgan was hired. Joe Hortiz (Director of Player Personnel, Baltimore Ravens) That means Hortiz contributed to Baltimore spending first-round picks on Delaware quarterback Joe Flacco in 2008 and wide receiver Zay Flowers in 2023. Talent acquisition is paramount to future success, but that goes beyond 40-yard times and tape evaluation. Hortiz, more of a behind-the-scenes executive, has insight into Baltimore’s culture and how it fits all the right pieces together. Before the Giants hired Joe Schoen, he was a leading candidate for their GM opening in 2022. ... This, in my mind, should be one of the leading candidates for the job. Could potentially be paired with Ravens DC Mike McDonald If Tepper were willing to go with a defensive coach (unlikely) Ray Agnew (Assistant GM, Detroit Lions) Mentioning Ben Johnson will cause readers to pause on Agnew’s bio, considering there’s no hotter head-coaching candidate unless Taylor Swift shows up with a stopwatch at the Senior Bowl. Agnew, 56, isn’t a sexy name, but his resume is notable. Before landing in the Motor City, he served as director of pro personnel with the Rams (2017-20) as Los Angeles built a roster with a significant influx of outside talent. Detroit has approached roster building through the draft and has crushed with the selections of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta and Brian Branch. ... Johnson / Agnew is a combo that a lot of folks are interested in, but what's also interesting is the connections that the article notes besides Johnson. Connections — Lions OC Ben Johnson, Lions DC Aaron Glenn, Panthers DC Ejiro Evero, Panthers OC Thomas Brown ... Side Note: The article also includes a writeup on Colts Assistant GM Ed Dodd, but given that he already interviewed his Tepper once and then pulled out of the process shortly thereafter, I wouldn't make any bets on him. David Tepper appears to throw a drink at a jaguars fan
Mr. Scot replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
Throwing a Drink Could Land You in Jail Because of the definitions of assault, throwing a can of liquid at someone will most likely be considered aggravated assault. Even throwing water at someone can be considered assault because it may classified as harmful touching. However, if you fail to make contact, throw an empty can or bottle, or just get their shirt wet, it might only be considered basic assault. Is throwing a drink at someone considered assault? -
