  1. And let's not minimize the fact that this means Brady will now and forever be indelibly branded as a cheater. This will never go away. Patriot haters won't let it.
  2. Good penalty. Now pardon me while I laugh at screaming Patriot fans everywhere
  3. They signed somebody the writer had heard of. (that's usually how it works)
  4. The 49ers have had an offseason straight out of the Ninth Circle of Hell. How could anybody be worse than that?
  5. Wasn't he still on his rookie contract? So, a team releases a talented player that's still on a rookie contract and thus not making all that much money... This doesn't scream "red flag" to everybody?
  6. And there's this from Mike Lupica (link)... Brady was never convincing in his Deflategate defense Lupica brings up a good point. Brady's arrogance is legendary. It wouldn't be at all surprising to find that he never took this investigation seriously; figuring instead, "I'm Tom Brady. No one can touch me." Seeing as we're talking about a guy who, when someone gets penalized for hitting him low, likes to get in their face and say "They made that rule for me, " its not much of a stretch. We all know the proverb that pride goes before a fall. For those who are watching when it happens, laughter comes after one.
  7. Albert BreerVerified account ‏@AlbertBreer .@Tmoney1197 I don't think the Patriots' 4-month whisper campaign implicating other teams and the league thru certain media helps them here.
  8. We haven't had a sledgehammer blocking fullback in a while, honestly not since Howard Griffith. Might be nice to have again.
  9. Confused. You cheering for Southern Cal or Oregon?
  10. Fewer guys are than used to be. This is camp life in the Gettleman era, where being good in prior seasons doesn't guarantee you a spot this season.
  11. Granted, for a competitive guy, it's tough to be a great player's backup.
  12. Understood, but I'll be absolutely clear on this: I have no idea if such speculation was true.
  13. Rivera said of Funchess that he was happy he was able to "regurgitate" what they gave him Yeah...
  14. Rookie transition to the NFL is roughly comparable to cramming four years of college into a few months and then being asked to take sixteen final exams (even more if your team is successful). Thompson? He's going to be doing all that with a double major, and he'll be forced to miss a month or so of classes in the process. I feel for the kid, but if he succeeds, look out.
  15. Hate to say it, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is KiJana Carter. He was never the same after an early injury. Hope this kid has better luck.
  16. Honestly, a lot of employers could say/do the same thing. Worth remembering in this case that although it is his private phone, it was in use for something related directly to his work. Since it can rightly be said that he was "conducting business", they're not really invading his privacy. All that said, don't be surprised if Brady's agent makes a similar argument. Right now, he's out there throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this, trying to minimize it and make the NFL look bad. Given that it's already been pointed out that some of what he's been saying is just patently false, I'd say he's making himself look bad - and by extension, Brady - more so than the league.
  17. I've seen speculation that Klein is unhappy about being overshadowed by Kuechly. Now that's only speculation of course, so it's essentially meaningless.
  18. As a hybrid position, absolutely. And he's never played it before because - outside of the pros - no one has.
  19. Brady wasn't forced to do so. Neither were the two other guys, but they chose to cooperate. Brady didn't. Yes, it's his right, but that doesn't prevent the league from taking a dim view of it and thus, choosing to lengthen a suspension. If you wanna say a suspension for this violates his rights, you'll have to show me where the Constitution guarantees the right to play in the NFL.
  20. I suspect if it's something minor like one or two games, 31 other teams are likely to cry foul (starting with the Colts).
  21. Rookies always are at this time of year. Good to hear he's seeking help, though.
  22. It's reportedly not a question of "if" but "how many games". Report: Brady suspension will be announced next week
