  1. It's not necessarily that they're all bad. Some of these guys might actually have been pretty good if they'd gotten better coaching. Heck, look at what happened with Tannehill, or even with Josh Allen. Coaching and development matters...a lot.
  2. Person pointed out that besides Fitterer's good rep, he's also well connected. That's the kind of thing that comes in handy when you're trying to recruit good people to your organization.
  3. Sometimes I think the creators of Madden deserve to be repeatdly kicked in the balls.
  4. Folks who are worried about us trading back as much as the Seahawks have been doing will probably appreciate quote number three.
  5. Snagged Martin Mayhew as well (title unknown as yet) Mayhew's best known here for interviewing the last time we hired Marty. He's best known elsewhere for being the architect of the Lions team that went 0-16 a few years back. Washington's had to close their facility due to Covid issues so Marty getting finalized might still be a few days off.
  6. Dan Campbell..might well bring a guy from the Saints. And yeah, we wanted this guy last year but didn't get him so I'm not really doing a whole lot of "dot connecting".
  7. This time from Seahawks GM John Schneider. Seahawks GM will miss Fitterer's calm, steady approach Excerpts: ... ... ... ... ... ...
  8. Actually just noticed this a few minutes ago and was planning on listening to it...
  9. Regardless of your feelings on trading, the notion that Mike Davis gives you anything close to what McCaffrey does is just goofy. If you paid attention, by seasons end our run game was by committee and Davis was running on fumes.
  10. The voting process has ended, but the results have not yet been announced. In the meantime, you can view this clip of Saints reporter Jeff Duncan arguing that Sam Mills should be a Hall of Famer.
  11. They've been pretty dumb in the past. Whether or not they're still dumb now that Nick Caserio is in charge remains to be seen.
  12. Here's a fun contrast... "Marty Hurney is one of the best recognizers of college talent in the nation, period." - David Tepper "I am not an evaluator at all." - Marty Hurney
  13. Marty was still the guy with final say. Likewise, he hired all the people that gave him info. So ultimately he still gets credit for the good choices, and blame for the bad ones. I'd also have to imagine that as time went on, his confidence in his own abilities probably got better. This was written in 2004. Marty was here for many years after that. We also know on the word of other Insiders that in later years here, Marty would sometimes make choices the scouts disagreed with or had to talk him out of (trading a future first rounder to move up for Clausen, as an example).
  14. Also helps explain why Ron Rivera would want him in Washington.
  15. Well, he'll be coaching Greg Little, so...
  16. This is...eye opening Okay, Hurney didn't pick all the players the way, say, Bobby Beathard picked just about everybody who played for the Redskins in those four Super Bowls. "I am not," Hurney said in a conversation yesterday, "an evaluator at all." But he did have critical input in identifying and hiring John Fox, the head coach. "He does get involved with personnel," said Beathard, Hurney's mentor and the man who facilitated the transition from covering an NFL team to running one. "He's a great guy to sit around when the scouts are in and he gets the conversation going. But I don't think he's pushy or thinks he has the experience to make those decisions." Hurney is a facilitator, a consensus builder, an administrator who can pull together all manner of resources, start a very democratic process that works well for the Panthers, then sit with the coach and owner and come to sharp, well-reasoned decisions. The above excerpt comes from a profile of Marty that was written by Michael Wilbon in 2004 when the Panthers were headed to the Super Bowl. 17. I would say this for Jones: It's a good choice on his part to go to the Senior Bowl. When the perception is that you might have been carried by the superior talent on your team, putting yourself in a position to show otherwise is smart. (if you succeed)
  18. The two of them being taken higher than pick #8 would be an extreme shock.
  19. I'm not a fan of either one. But of course, if one of them ends up being our pick, I'll hope for the best.
  20. Yeah but come on, he only had fifteen years, a Super Bowl trophy and several trips to the playoffs. Big deal, right?
