  1. I get the feeling it's more like the Giants assistant GM. The Giants have a guy with that title, but he doesn't have a scouting background. He does some of the 'grunt work' but if the time came to replace Jerry Reese, it'd be Marc Ross taking the job while the 'Assistant GM' stayed where he's at. Pretty sure Dave Gettleman will have a lot of say in who his successor is. I'd be extremely shocked if it was a guy who didn't have scouting experience.
  2. I thought you were talking about Ricky Henry. Love stuff like this.
  3. That route is a staple in a lot of NFL offenses. Nice to see them doing it well.
  4. Hadn't had a chance to sit down and read this whole thing till now. Good post, Phil. I've noticed that over the last few years, "nickel back" has come to mean "fastest short guy in the secondary" to a lot of NFL teams. These things change as teams adapt, of course. And I would agree that over the next few years, some adaptation is likely to become necessary.
  5. Rotate by quarters? Probably not. Shift around to get the best matchupsmatchups, though? Maybe. It'd take three guys who are smart enough to handle such switching around, of course.
  6. Sometimes it takes even longer than that to get all the stupid out.
  7. I'm not sure Mathis would be as good in our scheme.
  8. I'd honestly love to see us win a Super Bowl with him on roster just so I could watch some people's heads explode at the idea of Sunshine having a Super Bowl ring.
  9. No team in the league keeps a player on roster just to "make fans happy". Only an idiot would believe that.
  10. Turns out Jocquel Skinner gets to stay. Punter Matt Wile gets the boot instead.
  11. Fans have a ridiculously "all or nothing" attitude when it comes to some players. Screw up one play and no matter what you've done before, you're no good, you were never any good and you should never play another down for this team again. It's silly.
  12. Quick Tip: If you want to show the world that you're utterly lacking in football knowledge, one of the quickest ways to do that is to minimize the importance of receivers catching the ball.
  13. If he were practicing against Everett Brown, the National Weather Service would need to send out a tornado watch.
  14. Looks like they're doing a lot of work on leverage in these pics. Williams' hands are a little wide. They're gonna wanna make sure he keeps those more inside so he doesn't risk a holding flag. Would also prefer he not be so far forward for the sake of better balance. He's a talented rookie, but still a rookie. Martin's up higher than the coaches probably want. He's not a rookie so coaches will frown on that more. Lotta good knee bend in those shots. Seeing them working together, I hope some of Trai Turner's temperament rubs off on Jonathan Martin. Speaking of temperament, between Norwell and Oher, the left side of our line is gonna have the surliest facial expressions in the NFL.
  15. White is eligible under the exception rules. Starting to think Peters will end up as an IR stash.
  16. The team decided to open up two days this week rather than just one. Fan/media friendly gesture, in my opinion.
  17. I've started wondering if Peters might end up as an IR stash.
  18. A Coryell Offense runs way better when you have one of those.
