I don't think these guys are backups. It looks like they're making more money than our starters did last year.
-
I think at this point, it's fairly safe to say that missing the playoffs last year pissed Belichick off. It is, however, also fair to point out that Bill Belichick the GM doesn't have as good a track record as Bill Belichick the coach.

Rapaport says the Patriots deal with Matt Judon is done.

I remember Elflein being pretty good in the past. Don't know as much about Erving. As mentioned elsewhere, I'm not "freaked out" by either signing, but I am a little concerned about us pursuing recently injured players again.

I don't know that these are terrible signings, and I feel like it's going to be a while before we can say anything definitive on it. My concern is that we're still pursuing players who have dealt with recent injuries.

The Patriots seem to be going whole hog. Being reported now that they're pursuing Matthew Judon.

I've seen a couple of people say that, but I don't know that it's true. Remember, this year is a little different as far as salary cap and such.

Sounds like Rasul Douglas won't be back...

Current head of pro personnel is still Matt Allen (i.e. Jerry Richardson's grandson). Luke Kuechly did join the pro personnel department this year.
-
I've heard a couple of people suggest that, and I just can't get on board. It would be a very Panther thing to choose a draft where the offensive line class is expected to be good and deep to be the one where we trade away all our picks.

Hope for the best, but...

I know we were expecting a lot of one year deals, but so far we've seen Erving signed for two years and Elflein for three.

Outside reaction so far is...not positive. That's not always the best measuring stick though.

I was kind of hoping to not hear or use the phrase "good when healthy" for a while. Looking like it might stick around for another year or so.
