  1. Most of the guys who last into their 30s are pocket passers like Stafford is. Said it elsewhere: Stafford would have been an ideal fit for the kind of offense Joe Brady runs.
  2. I think of McCaffrey more as our version of LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson had Antonio Gates. We don't even have a true starter.
  3. He might have been. Nobody's said for certain but Person believes he was, and it's reasonable to think so. The Lions were looking to get a quarterback in return.
  4. I don't know that I'd have put Delhomme in a West Coast system, not even prime Delhomme. He fit into a Coryell type offense much better. Carr though? Yeah. His experience working under Gruden serves him well there.
  5. It tells me that winning is now more important than feelings. I'm not really confident that was true here in the past.
  6. Probably the second best offer they got, and good enough that they were ready to take it.
  7. The one who's generally considered the best of the lot didn't play. I would add I actually think Sam Ehlinger looked decent.
  8. I'm not a big Stafford fan, but even I can acknowledge that the back end of his career looks better than some guys' entire resumés.
  9. Yeah, the Stafford deal definitely wasn't "the farm". It didn't even include the kitchen sink.
  10. I was never a big fan of allowing the fear of hurting somebody's feelings to affect roster decisions. It's one of the reasons I'm glad Ron and Marty are gone.
  11. He is, and it could be. I do think it's newsworthy but I'm not necessarily inclined to make much of it right now. Course, some of us also said that when the Saints news first broke.
  12. Doesn't necessarily sound like it's on the level of the Saints, but could be... interesting.
  13. After what JPP said about him, I'm actually hoping he does well.
  14. Gruden's long had what I call a lottery ticket mentality when it comes to quarterbacks. "Okay, we tried this one and it wasn't an instant winner so let's buy another one." That's not unusual for fans, but it's not a good mindset for a professional coach.
  15. Well, you'd have to start with the premise that you're Jon Gruden. From there, a lot of things become possible.
  16. Plus Carr isn't likely to generate the kind of offers that Stafford did.
  17. After watching Newman in the Senior Bowl, the only way I'd take him is as an undrafted free agent.
  18. Should be less than Stafford. Can't exactly guarantee the Raiders will be reasonable on that though.
  19. I've heard that before. The Panthers are going to keep exploring other avenues, and they should. They just might not come out with what they want.
  20. He got enough of one to be given an ESPN show for it. And honestly, the show was good. With that said, asking Jon Gruden for advice on how to develop a quarterback is a lot like acting Tommy Wiseau how to become an award winning actor/director.
