  1. I can understand making suggestions like "we need a better O-line", but I don't care who the player is. There's no way in hell I'd give them a say in the roster.
  2. It's not so much conviction as wondering why acknowledgment from an internet stranger seems to matter so much to you. Yes, what you suggest could also be true. I don't think it is but so what? Happy?
  3. On a lighter note... For reference...
  4. Or, they could actually have been close but not sealed the deal. Who knows? OY
  5. Heard his name mentioned but wasn't familiar with him. I think he was a baseball guy. Mike Garafolo mentioned him and some others. "Vaughn" is Vaughn McClure, who died a while back (was only 48). If I remember correctly, I think he covered the Falcons. I don't actually know who "Sid" refers to.
  6. Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Seahawks have made it clear to everybody that there's no way in hell they're dealing Russell Wilson.
  7. NFL writer Chris Wesseling died a few days ago. He was only 46 years old but had suffered through cancer. I remember reading some of his stuff on NFL.com. He was good. Now there's word that Terez Paylor, a longtime Chiefs writer who was covering the NFL in general over the last few years, died today at only 37 (haven't seen anything on cause of death) Pair all that with Marty Schottenheimer's death being announced by a sh-thead obituary writer and all in all, the past several days have been rough ones for sports journalism.
  8. Piecing together from a couple of different sources, latest speculation is that the Eagles might have overplayed their hand and severely overestimated what Carson Wentz was worth. They figured having two or three interested parties would lead to a bidding war. Instead, the teams involved have played it smart and held their ground, with Colts GM Chris Ballard reportedly having hung up on a phone call where the Eagles requested two first rounders. The Colts and Bears are both still interested but neither seems willing to overpay. They're basically in "take it or leave it" mode at this point. The Eagles conceivably could "leave it" but that'd be extremely awkward. Unless the Colts, Bears or team three changes their mind though, the better option would likely be to just take the best offer they've got. Whether or not the Eagles will be smart remains to be seen.
  9. I think you do have to pay attention to those things because generally there's a reason (like with Alabama quarterbacks for example). But you also have to be a good enough scout to know when those issues don't apply
  10. Jon Gruden's reputation as a quarterback guru is also mythical.
  11. Just to clarify, Harbaugh was a special teams coach. Reid's current ST coach Dave Toub has gotten head coaching interviews too.
  12. McCloughan? By all accounts, he's an amazing talent scout. Just can't seem to stay clean.
  13. Gonna be awkward if they can't talk about whatever it was because you know everybody's going to be asking.
  14. Saw a little bit from a radio interview with former Saints GM Randy Mueller, basically discussing how he'd handle it. His take is that it doesn't make sense to trade Wentz just because he doesn't want to be there. As a GM, he says, that doesn't really matter to him. Stated further that if Wentz wants to get paid, he'll honor his contract. GMs vary, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's a common way of thinking.
  15. There were reports that they were shopping Carr because conditions related to his contract were more favorable to that this year than in prior years. More recently I've seen it suggested that they'd rather keep Carr and trade Mariota. You're right though. It's Gruden. Next week he'll probably be ready to start Nathan Peterman.
  16. FYI: Saw some people on Twitter speculating that there's a work stoppage. I'm not sure that's plausible, but...
  17. Just saw a report that the Ravens are planning to devote more resources to keeping Lamar Jackson upright. This whole "protecting the quarterback" thing might just be catching on.
  18. I like Wilson but what they'd have to trade to get to that spot would probably make me cringe.
  19. The guy that's regularly on the show with Wilson is somebody else but I remember hearing Council's name on there from time to time.
  20. I guess I thought he was still with the station.
  21. I haven't read the whole thread. Has last season's game against Washington been mentioned yet? (just curious)
  22. I was actually looking for info on Twitter and found this gem. Charlotte sports radio sounds like it's a better soap opera than General Hospital.
  23. Would they or would you be willing to let a player have a say in roster decisions though? That'd be a hard "no" for me.
