  1. I actually want to like the kid. I think he's great. The biggest thing for me is that when I read evaluations of him, they remind me of the ones I read about Teddy Bridgewater when he was in college. I said the same thing about Bridgewater at the time.
  2. Maybe it's just me, but every time I've watched Lawrence play I've been underwhelmed. Again, not necessarily that he's bad, but that he might not be as good as advertised. Perhaps I just didn't catch him at his best.
  3. Said it elsewhere: When you factor in that one of the principal figures in this story is an idiot with a huge ego, all possibilities are open.
  4. I can't remember for certain if anybody was predicting Baker Mayfield to go number one a few years back. If so, there probably weren't many because most saw it is a huge surprise. This would be like that on steroids.
  5. Wilson's skill set is phenomenal, but his physical durability concerns me. Also, while I'm not about to predict that Lawrence will be bad, I don't necessarily believe he's the quarterback god that a lot of people see him to be. Even factoring both those things in though, this is still hard for me to believe.
  6. Worth noting that might also factor into Watson's thinking.
  7. That's hard to imagine. Fields I could kinda see because of his connection to Urban Meyer, but ultimately I'd be really shocked if they took anyone but Lawrence.
  8. This just in from our "Wait, WHAT?!" department... There's misinformation, and then there's this.
  9. Basically said he'd play for nothing. Apparently, that offer wasn't low enough for the Steelers
  10. Making suggestions is one thing. Doing like Dan Snyder and firing Marty Schottenheimer because you're "not having fun" is another. There are guys who commit to the fans, but there are others who think of a team like their personal plaything. Those guys invariably suck as owners.
  11. FYI: Rodrigue did add in a follow-up tweet that she believes the Panthers are more likely to trade for a quarterback than draft one.
  12. Technically, Cal inherited the team. I don't know what kind of businessman he is. All indications are that as a team owner, he's sh-t.
  13. Technically you could say a quarterback is just a quarterback while comparing Deshaun Watson to Teddy Bridgewater. I'm not really talking about his pay. Like I said, Marty wrote that contract so it's kind of expected to be bad. What I've pointed out is that the suggestions that he could be easily replaced with a guy like Mike Davis are absolute buffoonery.
  14. Multiple sources reporting that Kevin Colbert has said they're not currently negotiating with him. Huge cap hit incoming if he's released. No, he's not an option for us.
  15. I'm not necessarily in favor of his contract (and given who wrote it that shouldn't be a surprise) but anytime I see someoneone talking about him like he's just a runningback, I make a mental note that this person doesn't know football.
  16. I see this as a way more reasonable take than the folks who are willing to just basically hand over a blank check.
  17. Actually, if you're making anything close to that kind of offer, my reaction is I'm wondering how in the hell you got to be an NFL GM.
  18. Heck, we have guys that have been here for years who still manage to be moronic (some under multiple IDs).
  19. I vaguely remember him being suspended at some point but I'm not absolutely certain.
  20. By season's end, we were runningback by committee. Regardless of what you think of McCaffrey, the notion that he was replaceable by Mike Davis is beyond silly. Davis isn't anything even remotely close to the weapon that McCaffrey is.
  21. I'm fully in favor of trying to get a franchise quarterback. I'm just also conscious of how bad things can go when you get that particular decision wrong.
