Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
All depends on Frank Reich, I suppose. A couple of years ago Wentz looked like he was trending toward future MVP status. Not sure if it was the injuries or something else, but he fell hard. I'm not even gonna try to predict what happens next with him. -
Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade

It's possible. Barring a trade, pretty sure we're going to be nervous about this right up to draft day. -
ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Next year's slogan? Not to be critical, but it doesn't quite have the aesthetic value or the rhythmic quality of "Tank for Trevor" or "Suck for Luck". -
Eagles and Colts reach deal on Wentz trade

It's a double-edged sword though. If Hurts is not the guy, they draft a quarterback. If Hurts is the guy, they potentially trade the pick to someone else who drafts a quarterback. -

And likely makes it harder for us to get one of the top quarterbacks. -

And I'd say that's a lazy assumption on his part. -

Even if they don't, they could trade the pick to someone who does. Either way, it's another quarterback domino falling. -

This is news of the actual trade. (plus that thread got crazy long with a fair amount of side discussion) -
Per Adam Schefter... Didn't even get a firm first rounder out of it. Instead, a third rounder this year and a conditional second round that could become a first. Albert Breer said yesterday he had a feeling the trade was going to happen this week. I forget who but I saw someone say this morning that the Bears had dropped their offer so there was basically no competition anymore it was the Colts or nobody.

Pretty sure Albert Breer said they have. I've seen who you've been arguing with recently

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Basing Watson going to the Panthers solely on the fact that we're not in conference? Yeah, that's weak. Especially so when you consider that both the Jets and the Dolphins are in far better position to make substantial offers. -
ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

This is Yates' rationale (as quoted by Weaver) “I’ve been on record forecasting Watson to Miami, but recently my tenor has changed with more support from the Dolphins for Tua Tagovailoa and the Panthers’ previous aggressive pursuit of Matthew Stafford. . . Houston has no interest in trading him away right now, but we know this has already been ugly. If you ultimately trade away a franchise quarterback, moving him to a team you play once every four years is preferred to an in-conference foe (assuming the offers are comparable).” Regardless of where you stand on the Watson trade, that line of reasoning is pretty weak. -

That's funny coming on the heels of the whole "bold prediction" thing. Former Eagles president Joe Banner made a comment yesterday indicating that he doesn't believe the "three firsts and McCaffrey" offer is even "close to enough" for the deal to happen. -
La Canfora on Tepper's desire for Watson/franchise QB
Mr. Scot replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, that's a bad deal. Brian Burns is 22, on a rookie contract and just getting started. Von Miller is 31, not anything close to what he used to be and at this point likely costs more than he's worth. -
Possibly the craziest draft story you might read
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be fair, some folks might have had similar sentiments about Sam Darnold a few years ago. Then the Browns picked Baker Mayfield. I do firmly believe Lawrence will go #1, but it's fair to say that you never know. -
Someone raised an interesting question... How would it be affected if, rather than just putting the full defensive units from those respective years, they had given you the choice between Dan Morgan and Luke Kuechly?
-
Thanks for the kind words. Didn't really intend for this thread to be about me. FYI: If you subscribe to The Athletic, they have a story chronicling the timeline of events between Deshaun Watson and the Texans. It's amazing.

This feels like a solid prediction...
-
Not a very accurate one... The last time I put up an "other NFL news" thread was February 2nd.
-
Didn't play last year (injury). Plus, new GM.
-
This would make sense... Also notable... And one more, it's not in Tweet form but Albert Breer said in his mailbag that he believes the Wentz trade should be completed this week, likely to the Colts but the Bears are still in it.

Fair point.

Steelers may part ways with Roethlisberger
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, you have to remember that Roethlisberger isn't used to people being able to say "no" to him
