  1. I think last year was more a case of "win now to save Marty's ass".
  2. Both teams have repeatedly said "not a chance in hell". A lot of folks believe the Texans will eventually change their minds, but pretty much nobody thinks the Seahawks will.
  3. As I recall, he already said he'd play for whoever drafted him. Granted he could change his mind, I just don't think he will.
  4. If I recall correctly, I think that was who Meyer wanted. He already had some role in Jacksonville but I forget exactly what.
  5. Yeah, they fired Caldwell. Trent Baalke is the GM now, though I'm pretty sure Urban Meyer is the guy who's really in charge.
  6. Been there, back when I was young stupid and horny. Lasted about eight months and cost me a lot of cash.
  7. My thing with Lawrence is I've heard the hype on him for years, but every time I've watched him play I just haven't been moved to the level I thought I'd be.
  8. That's a tough question. I would say that I think the chance of Russell Wilson being traded is even less than the chance of Deshaun Watson getting traded, and I say that as somebody who doesn't believe Watson will be traded.
  9. True, though it's fair to say that both became famous in South Carolina.
  10. It would make for the most entertaining draft in a long time
  11. I don't believe it either, but there's the Urban Meyer connection to Fields and the fact that he's kind of a wild card at the NFL level. I wouldn't say zero chance, but probably less than a fraction of 1%.
  12. Both options give me sticker shock.
  13. The more intriguing possibility for me is the Jags taking Justin Fields. I don't believe it'll happen, but that's one of those things that could at least conceivably be possible.
  14. I may not be understanding you correctly. Are you saying Bradberry said this in the last six months regarding his departure from the Panthers? If I am understanding you correctly, that means he believed as of last March that Marty was on his way out.
  15. Watson is established, but Lawrence is younger and significantly cheaper on a rookie contract. It would depend heavily on your evaluation of Lawrence. If you think he could genuinely be as good as Watson, it becomes a real debate.
  16. Will someone make the Jaguars an offer they can't refuse? The most intriguing potential suitor for 2021 is the Panthers. Carolina holds the eighth overall pick. If they package that pick with several other selections in an effort to keep Lawrence in close to Clemson, will that be enough to get the Jaguars to pull the trigger? No, I don't buy that the Panthers will do this. It's pure speculation, but so was Newton's "bold prediction" and people went apesh-t over that. What we'd have to give up just to get to number two or number three would probably make me cringe. Can't imagine what it would take to get to number one.
  17. You know, it's pretty stupid to keep this schtick with Marty already fired. You can't come up with something new?
  18. Aaron Wilson said the Dolphins are "a popular team on his personal wish list". Also mentioned that former teammate Kareem Jackson was trying to recruit him to Denver.
  19. Not sure if it's another player who you're referring to, but that particular question was about James Bradberry. At the time Bradberry departed, Ron and Marty were still firmly in place.
  20. A good number of people on here called last year a half-assed effort at rebuilding and complained that we didn't go all in. Did they have a point? One thing I'd say is if Rhule and Fitterer really do see this as rebuilding time, that would make the answer to the question of whether Tepper was transitioning from "patience" to "win now" a no.
  21. Talking about his release, Tre Boston says he was told by the Panthers that it's "rebuilding time". While that seems like an obvious statement, I still find it kind of interesting that they framed it to him this way. And it brings up a question in my mind. Matt Rhule is in his second year as head coach, but year one happened with Marty Hurney as GM. Reports said that Marty believed the team could win now rather than just rebuild, which possibly may have led to some of the reported clash between Marty and Rhule. So with a new GM that shares Rhule's vision now in place, would it be more correct to consider this season year two of the rebuild, or is it really year one?
  22. Thanks. I know guarantee things frequently have a date attached. I wonder if there's one attached to this other than the start of the league year.
