  1. I don't doubt that he can figure those things out if he's watching tape or breaking down a film session. That's not his job, though. His job is to do it in real time on the field with the defense bearing down on him. And this is where I have questions... But to be fair, Greg Olsen is right. It's be pretty hard for anyone to operate under the conditions hea facing.
  2. Back on topic I dont doubt Young's football intelligence, but it's not just knowing what to do. You have to be able to process and make extremely quick decisions and adapt to NFL conditions. Plenty of guys that are football smart can fully break down a play, but not in real time.
  3. Or maybe I know this is all you can do because you don't have the ability to debate on a deeper level
  4. Lemme use this to say one thing... Big thanks to the stadium staff. I was able to walk from the parking garage to the stadium but getting to our seats and getting out after three plus hours of sitting (could barely walk by that point) was kinda tough. Kudos to the wheelchair crew. They were kind, courteous and professional. Doubt I could have done it without them.
  5. You can make the money better, but the situation is what it is. You have to sell free agents on the idea that they'll be the difference maker.
  6. It's kinda hard to say where we are. Albert Breer reportedly believes both Reich and Fitterer get fired together or (more likely, in his opinion) get another year. Dianna Russini has been talking almost exclusively about the coaching staff being in danger. She talks about leadership using collective terms, as if Tepper and the front office are functioning as one, and judging Reich harshly. Kate and Person both seem to be in "anything can happen" mode. They seem more open to the idea of a "clean sweep" than Russini appears at the moment. Predicting Tepper is a tricky business, I guess.
  7. Throw in also that the kind of players you have to overpay for can likely also get overpaid by another team, one that might have a better situation...
  8. I'll add this... Whether it's this offseason, next year or whenever, my enthusiasm for researching potential options is pretty low right now. Why? Same reason as others. Because knowing that Tepper is running things just makes it all just feel futile. If he hires a consultant for guidance, maybe that'll help. If not, oy
  9. I know we got Mingo because of the impression he made in his visit, and he does technically fit in a wCO as a possession type. But Josh Downs and Tank Dell would both have been pure WCO burners, especially Dell.
  10. Taking credit for someone else's work now... Wow
  11. What Fix posted in the Scheme thread is pretty depressing.
  12. There's no greater cluelessness / egotism than blaming and punishing people for mistakes you made as a leader, then thinking it'll be different with someone else you put in the same situation. Doesn't surprise me, though. Tepper seems like he's as horrible as he is dimwitted.
  13. Ugh The person who causes the most problems is the one person who's also untouchable. Corporate nightmare...
  14. That's the second time I've done that I really gotta pay closer attention to my edits.
  15. Wasn't a fan of Richardson because he's not as accurate a passer as Stroud. The nickname "ball placement machine" is a true one. He'd have been ideal. Turns out Richardson isn't very durable either but nobody really saw that coming.
  16. There are valid criticisms to be had with Frank, but you demonstrated with your ridiculously weak attempt at explaining what a Reich offense was that you had no clue what they were. Largely the same deal with Fitterer. What's even funnier though is that I put out a pretty clear indictment of where the coaching issues were weeks ago and have even expanded on it since. But instead of talking about that you're trying to use it to bash the front office. You don't get it. I wouldn't bet that you're going to.
  17. Actually, the "mental gymnastics" is when you try to blame front office people for coaching mistakes. The OL was already built, and Reich had no issue with it (nor should he have). Deciding to use them against their skill set was a baffling decision, but that's not the fault of anyone in the front office. I get that you want an excuse to fire everybody because that's your thing (and it might actually happen) but blaming scheme problems on personnel people is a pretty good sign of having no idea what you're talking about.
  18. Bryce is an obvious West Coast quarterback. You're not gonna put him in a Coryell. His OL are not WCO type linemen though (they're big, road grader types). Neither are his receivers suited to this attack (need speedy "run after catch type guys mostly some other at least one deep throat wouldn't be a bad idea.
  19. Which makes no sense when you come in saying your plan is to tailor the schemes to the players
