  1. Also lost yet another corner...
  2. Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
  3. Correct that all teams use a mix. Also correct that all teams basically have their own playbook, though they tend to fall into categories (WCO, Coryell, etc). But in the same way that you can't run a Coryell without deep threats, you also can't run a zone blocking scheme when your personnel going from center left all don't fit that scheme. That's why I looked back at all the pre-draft and free agent analyses of our current lineman and some of our backups. In just about every case from the center left (except for Brady Christensen) all were noted to be weak in and / or not suited to zone blovking. Either not understanding or not adapting to that is a coaching failure.
  4. No they don't, but neither would any of us. The idea that any of us could just come off the couch and do better than these guys Is kinda silly.
  5. Corbett didn't get an extension. His contract was restructured.
  6. That plus there's "college real time" and "NFL real-time".
  7. He didn't want two guys he had history with? Capers is here as much because of Evero as Reich. He held the same role he has here in Denver the year before. Reich gave Evero a lot of leeway on the defensive staff, but why would he object to a guy he knew well? And Caldwell? He's the guy who helped Reich get going on the path to where he is now back when he started in Indy. Reich considers him a friend and a mentor. You think he wouldn't want that guy?
  8. Yeah...no. This isn't Madden. You have to build a roster of 53 guys, a practice squad, account for injuries, head cases, etc. Random internet guy isn't gonna succeed at that.
  9. Because it isn't their job to be better than us. That'd be easy. They have to be better than thirty plus other GMs. I'm sure I could play chess with a group of fans like me, but stick me in the world championships and I'd be toast.
  10. I think it's fair to give a rookie time to adjust, even a #1 pick. Granted though, he still may not be up to it. I'm not ready to say that yet. I know some are. Just not me. Wanna go back to something you mentioned previously though, because I've also said that dinner sounded like a focal point of the draft process. Tepper was absolutely awestruck by Young's answer to a question about a particular play. I know he raved about the level of detail and said specifically "who does that?" Couldn't help thinking that the coaches and maybe even the personnel guys had probably seen that level of detail before, but Tepper...not so much. If that led Tepper to be over impressed, welllll...
  11. I don't doubt that he can figure those things out if he's watching tape or breaking down a film session. That's not his job, though. His job is to do it in real time on the field with the defense bearing down on him. And this is where I have questions... But to be fair, Greg Olsen is right. It's be pretty hard for anyone to operate under the conditions hea facing.
  12. Back on topic I dont doubt Young's football intelligence, but it's not just knowing what to do. You have to be able to process and make extremely quick decisions and adapt to NFL conditions. Plenty of guys that are football smart can fully break down a play, but not in real time.
  13. Or maybe I know this is all you can do because you don't have the ability to debate on a deeper level
  14. Lemme use this to say one thing... Big thanks to the stadium staff. I was able to walk from the parking garage to the stadium but getting to our seats and getting out after three plus hours of sitting (could barely walk by that point) was kinda tough. Kudos to the wheelchair crew. They were kind, courteous and professional. Doubt I could have done it without them.
  15. You can make the money better, but the situation is what it is. You have to sell free agents on the idea that they'll be the difference maker.
  16. It's kinda hard to say where we are. Albert Breer reportedly believes both Reich and Fitterer get fired together or (more likely, in his opinion) get another year. Dianna Russini has been talking almost exclusively about the coaching staff being in danger. She talks about leadership using collective terms, as if Tepper and the front office are functioning as one, and judging Reich harshly. Kate and Person both seem to be in "anything can happen" mode. They seem more open to the idea of a "clean sweep" than Russini appears at the moment. Predicting Tepper is a tricky business, I guess.
  17. Throw in also that the kind of players you have to overpay for can likely also get overpaid by another team, one that might have a better situation...
  18. I'll add this... Whether it's this offseason, next year or whenever, my enthusiasm for researching potential options is pretty low right now. Why? Same reason as others. Because knowing that Tepper is running things just makes it all just feel futile. If he hires a consultant for guidance, maybe that'll help. If not, oy
