  1. Here's my concern on this front... The last time we had a GM search, Tepper wanted to go a different route than normal and choose an analytics guy as the GM rather than a player personnel guy. Mind you, that was back during his "I'm going to prove I'm smarter than everybody else" phase when he thought he'd set the league on fire by hiring a college coach. It's possible he's come out of that phase now. But if he hasn't...
  2. He already did once, specifically after the 49ers gave him a new title and a raise. Might also be worth mentioning that one of the big reasons he got an interview here last time was his being old friends with Matt Rhule.
  3. Pretty sure he was also in New Orleans during Bountygate, for what that's worth.
  4. He's a lifelong 49er fan and says being the 49ers GM is his dream job. He's now one step away from that position and will probably have it within a few years.
  5. FYI: Hunt should probably be familiar to Tepper, and vice versa. Not sure what that would mean as far as the dynamics, but at least they'd be familiar. He'd likely also have Kevin Colbert's endorsement as well.
  6. No, there aren't any reports of it. There were reports of what I said though. That's the difference between us. I prefer to have an actual source while you're comfortable making up bullsh-t and then claiming sources who disagree with it are conspiracy theorists
  7. Finally used that top waiver priority... Former Seahawks so I would guess Scott Fitterer is familiar with him.
  8. If you go back into old connections, one potential name might be Brandon Hunt, currently of the Eagles but previously of the Steelers. Hunt was supposedly the heir apparent to Kevin Colbert but the Steelers instead gave the job to Omar Khan. Hunt left for Philadelphia shortly thereafter.
  9. Will McClay from the Cowboys would be my top choice. His name comes up every hiring cycle because few teams have been as consistently good personnel wise as they have over the past several years. Not sure about his availability but from what I know, it would be a promotion since he's not the official GM in Dallas.
  10. He doesn't, but a head coach doesn't need to be a good playcaller.
  11. ...I have a feeling this story could start a few
  12. Luck said goodbye to football because he'd been getting the sh-t kicked out of him for years behind the terrible offensive lines Ryan Grigson had been putting together.
  13. I don't think his withdrawal had anything to do with us. That said, it's pretty hard to debate that we look a lot worse this year than we did last year.
  14. It's kind of hard to judge against all time because it used to be that if you went on IR, you stayed there. The rules allowing players to go on temporarily and come back off have changed things.
  15. Peters was offered a raise and a promotion to go back to the 49ers. Sad to say I wouldn't be surprised if other guys use flirtation with us to get the same sort of thing. As to Peters, the bigger deal is that he's a lifelong 49ers fan and has stated that being their GM is his dream job. He's right now one step and probably just a few years away from that. I'd be extremely surprised if anybody was able to lure him away.
  16. I would only put money down on it not being our first choice, maybe not even our second.
  17. I've got no idea who this is but it sounds like he's a dumbass Does he think half a million moves the needle for Kelce?
  18. The news about Tepper's weekly meetings probably does a lot of damage to this team's attractiveness. He'll likely need to come out and promise that's not going to happen if he wants candidates to come here.
  19. I feel more a sense of halitosis with this team.
