The emphasis on analytics guys among our GM candidates isn't encouraging me
-
Don't think so. You might be mixing him up with Brandt Tilis.

Head Coach Preference as of January 12th
Mr. Scot replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ben Johnson and Frank Smith would still be my top choices. -
Granted that's a possibility, but with that also be true in the other cases referenced?
-
Pretty sure we didn't. Borgonzi hasn't ever interviewed here that I've seen. There's a theme here though when you look at the people we want to interview over the people we're ignoring. In Kansas City, Brandt Tilis over Mike Borgonzi... In Baltimore, Nick Matteo over Joe Hortiz... In Detroit, Mike Disner over Ray Agnew... The cap management / analytics expert thing seems to be the common thread, and I'm not a fan of it. Only thing I can figure is maybe David Tepper wants somebody who does things closer to his way as opposed to guys who are experts in something he has no clue about.

Entered into this discussion elsewhere, but I'll ask the same question here: Anyone know why in the hell we're not trying to interview Mike Borgonzi? We contacted the Chiefs about Brandt Tilis, but not their Assistant GM?
-
With McClay out an option and other big names not requested, the my favorite option among the GM candidates right now would be Ed Dodds, with Champ Kelly second.
-
McClay reportedly staying in Dallas.

He didn't, and probably wouldn't have except that the Commanders retained a longtime friend with close connections to him as part of their search. You likely weren't prying him away from the 49ers any other way.
-
I think we only got an interview with him last time because he was old friends with Matt Rhule.

Hiring a minority coach is literally the fulfillment of the rule.
-
None of that matters if you hire an actual minority coach. It's about the hiring, not the interviews.
-
They hired a minority coach.

Apparently the lesson in Philly is that getting the team to a Super Bowl starts you down the path to being fired
-
Tabor is the other completed interview. Still to come: Ben Johnson Brian Callahan Dave Canales Brian Johnson Raheem Morris Dan Quinn Bobby Slowik Frank Smith
-
That's...probably not something anybody wants to hear I'm in favor of dumping the collaborative bullsh-t, but more involvement on Dave's part is a big big red flag.

Arguably the best NFL reporter in the business.

Belichick stopped scaring me a while ago. (probably around the time Tom Brady left)
-
That sounds right.
