They weren't wrong. In fact, they've pretty much yet to get anything wrong. And they've said way more than what's been publicly reported. Hence again why I'm hoping guys here aren't going to be a--holes and run them off, but unfortunately that seems like destiny here
-
Not really. Newton said we weren't interested. Multiple other sources confirm we were. We just didn't land him. Not landing him isn't the same as not being interested. I'd add that Newton is somebody I always take with a grain of salt unless someone else confirms what he's saying.

Yeah, that doesn't even make any sense. I get why you want people to think you're right, but you're not. And I'm afraid you're supposed acknowledge of human nature doesn't, and never will, trump reports from actual sources. However, since it also sounds like you're on the verge of going off on another emotionally unhinged rant, I'll just leave it here.

Mike Kaye, Joe Person and others confirmed that our interest was real. The only reporter I've seen say that we weren't that interested was David Newton. (not sure that's who I'd want to stake my reputation to)
-
Not sure who you're referring to, but @Leaky_Faucet hasn't been wrong about anything yet. They said we'd be calling Carr today to talk money. That was the plan. Fitterer himself said so at his combine presser. We never got the chance though because the Saints sealed the deal last night and early this morning. Our other recent insider went by The Crown and the Claw, I think. They predicted that Jeff Nixon was going to be the tight end coach. Turned out to be wrong, but they said afterwards that things changed. It happens. To my knowledge, they never said anything about Carr either way. On a related note, it's kind of nice to have some insiders around here again so I'm sure many of us would appreciate if guys wouldn't be a--holes and run them off like has happened several times before. (unfortunately, this thread makes me think that might be too much to ask)

I wouldn't be in favor of it, but you never know.

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Carr was a primary topic of discussion. I bump and comment on a lot of things, but not everything I bump or post constitutes an endorsement. -
REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB

He was the QB I said repeatedly I'd be good with or without. Your grasp of facts really is non-existent, isn't it? -
That's it. Thanks.

Dang it, now I can't either

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd be okay with it. Same. -
Sad to hear. Voth had long been one of the best Panther reporters out there but in the last few years took on a more administrative role. Hate to see him go...
-
The only actual fact you've got here is that we're not signing Carr. The rest is your opinion. And this is where you run into trouble, letting your opinion influence the facts instead of the other way around.

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bears GM Ryan Poles has stated that he knows he can get three firsts (23, 24 and 25). Less than that isn't gonna cut it. -
The dude on the message board isn't the only one reporting that we were seriously interested. They just happen to have the most details, but their details are consistent with what others have already reported.
-
Yeah, except the actual news (again) goes against what you say. Reports have confirmed that we were calling Carr today to talk money, but the Saints swooped in and got him before we had the chance. I get that it's your preference to ignore news that doesn't suit what you believe, but hey...

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Saints with Carr don't scare me because of Dennis Allen. The Falcons with Jackson don't scare me because Steve Wilks handled him with half his defensive staff tied behind his back. The Bucs don't scare me because...why should they? It's just a matter of us getting things right. -
REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB

Yeah, wrong again -
Gantt it also makes it sound like a disappointment for us...
-
In fact, here's a little more info now... Sounds like the Saints might have beaten us to the punch
-
Oh, we were definitely interested. Joe Person, Mike Kaye and others confirmed that much. That we weren't as interested as the Saints is actually just my speculation. We'll have to wait until more details come out to know the full truth.

"Rashness is the characteristic of youth, prudence that of mellowed age and discretion the better part of valor." - VinCENT, paraphrasing Cicero and Shakespeare The problem in this thinking is confusing process and person. How you acquire a player is nowhere near as important as how good that player is. It's the same as when Frank Reich said of Ejiro Evero, "I'm hiring a man, not a system."
