  1. What's clear from this discussion is that some fans have one favorite and want that guy or nobody, which is fine. Panicking at the notion that the Panthers might also like someone else though is kinda silly. Have said numerous times that I trust whomever the staff picks. Others have too but apparently that notion isn't as popular as I thought
  2. That's not really true. It's possible to have more than one franchise quarterback available in the draft. Hell, 83 had several. They may ultimately settle on just one, but the notion that they have to isn't valid.
  3. The Panthers think so. (which is the whole point) And yes, they could fail. But that's true regardless of whether you take them at #1 or #2.
  4. The Panthers like more than one quarterback.
  5. That's a key point. The Bears were obviously quite willing to trade out of #1 because they don't need a quarterback. The Texans trading down from #2? Not so much.
  6. They might end up with one, but right now they have two. And again, that isn't speculation. It's sourced. If we get our franchise quarterback for the next decade, do you really think anyone's gonna give a sh-t whether they were taken first or second? Hell, if we got a franchise guy at pick 206, I'm not gonna sit around five years down the road pissed we didn't get him higher. Just the opposite. i'd be laughing my ass off
  7. That's why they ultimately determined they wouldn't go any lower than second overall.
  8. Nope. It was given to him from an insider. They confirmed that after talking to numerous other teams, the Panthers decided they wanted to trade to either #1 or #2, but no lower.
  9. It's actually been confirmed they were also good with trading to #2, but no lower.
  10. What does it matter what the Texans do if you're picking second? As to how they know, it's in the tweet (team source).
  11. If you're getting a franchise QB either way, who cares what spot you picked them at?
  12. It's not his opinion. Person's getting it from a team source (others have said the same). Mind you, that's now. If, after they've gone through the full pre-draft process they only like one, then the situation changes.
  13. Who cares what spot they were taken if you think they're both franchise quarterbacks? Getting a franchise quarterback is great. Getting a franchise quarterback and another great player is better.
  14. Because you can make your roster even better while sacrificing nothing.
  15. We have professional NFL people running things now. It's gonna take some getting used to.
  16. Someone talked to me recently about how we'd been getting something wrong "eince parting ways with Newton", making it sound as if it were a longstanding thing. It's actually only been three years, all of them under Rhule.
  17. Discussed this a little yesterday but wanna put a slightly different spin on it... If you're okay with either of two choices and the Texans want to talk about trading up to the top pick to ensure they get the guy they most covet, you then have an opportunity to gain an additional pick (or picks) while still getting your guy as well. So if Houston enters into that discussion, what are you asking in return? Options would include the #12 overall pick the Texans got from the Browns, their second rounder (#34 overall) , their first rounder in 2024, etc. What would you ask for? What could you settle for?
  18. Remember a couple folks saying we got "raped" in the deal. To me, this doesn't even qualify as someone telling an offensive joke in front of us.
  19. Fitterer seems to be good at those. Handy skill to have, too. Teams like to trade with you when that happens.
  20. I probably rechecked the trade terms about twenty times Couldn't believe we got the #1 for what was quoted, but it's true.
