  1. I'm not just talking about the hot takes. I'm talking about just straight up mistakes. This past season, he mentioned a Bears player named Armstrong when there was no one by that name on the roster. He also predicted that Rashaad Penny would help the Seahawks win a game...eleven days after Penny had been placed on season ending injured reserve. As I recall, he also credited some roster move to a coach who had already been fired, but I don't remember who that was. Those are a couple of examples, but there are more, and loads of times where he completely flip-flopped a supposedly strongly held opinion. In an interview a while back, he mentioned that he's not really worried about whether he gets stuff right so much as he is about making his show entertaining. I remember thinking, "well yeah, that's pretty obvious".
  2. For the record, the "road trip" article from Panthers.com does confirm that the Panthers will not be attending Auburn's Pro Day.
  3. I mean, there's a great story to be had if the franchise that got its motto from Sam Mills becomes the team where Bryce Young has success. Admittedly though, I don't give a sh-t about great stories so much as I do winning.
  4. A lot of times when there are a couple of highly regarded quarterbacks available in the draft, one of the top ones ends up being a total bust. Then afterward you hear people saying things like "How did we not see it?" If that happens with one of the top two in this draft, I hope it's the one we didn't pick.
  5. If I'm making the pick, it's Stroud. There are certainly things about him that concern me, but I think he's the best overall choice. I could live with Young. He's everything I would typically want in a quarterback, but his size scares me. Levis and Richardson both strike me as physical specimens that you'd have to teach the quarterback position to, and I'm not a fan of that model. Ultimately I'll trust whatever the staff decides, but Stroud would make that easier.
  6. I get that. Don't really think there's anybody with that kind of persona in this year's draft. I'm more the type that I don't give a sh-t if you're exciting or boring as long as you play the position well.
  7. Scouting reports would tell you he's not going to scare anybody as a runner, but that yes he can operate "off platform".
  8. I'd be willing to bet Rich Eisen has more "eyes and ears" than anyone on this board, and he agrees the decision isn't made yet.
  9. Yeah, that guy doesn't know anything. Appears to be our resident numerology geek who spent the last several years predicting that Newton would come back to the Panthers and win another MVP. Guess he got tired of that not happening and now he's moved on to being a Falcons fan. (that's actually good news for all of us)
  10. Does the version of him that you miss still exist though? I think that's where a lot of people struggle.
  11. Young is the best processor, but I would agree with Stroud being the best pure passer. As far as arm strength, I've read more than one report that questions Young's deep ball, especially vs Stroud.
  12. I wouldn't go that far. He does occasionally say things that make sense, or more frequently talks to other people who make sense, but especially these days more often than not he's full of sh-t. Of late, he's also become prone to some major gaffes where he just gets things flat out wrong.
  13. It's not just that. Newton has always seemed like a guy who sometimes just doesn't understand how he comes off. For example, how are you as a team going to feel about bringing a guy in as a backup who just publicly declared that he could well be better than the "muthaf--ka" you have starting? It's the same kinda thing you got when he was swearing about "just asking for a little commitment" from the Panthers. You don't have to be a cancer to be a distraction.
  14. Kinda poorly planned, if that's the case. The pro day is tomorrow. Announcing it the evening before would likely make it tricky for anybody who wasn't already planning on going to make arrangements to be there.
  15. No indication he did...not that it matters. There are no circumstances under which this would be a smart idea.
  16. That kinda mayhem Is way more fun when it's happening to somebody else.
  17. Honestly, over a full season there probably are. In backup or spot duty he could potentially be valuable somewhere. But as a full time starter? Those days are over.
  18. I haven't seen any evidence Cowherd actually said it. So either he didn't say it, which means it's bullsh-t. Or even if he did, given that Cowherd doesn't know jack, it's still bullsh-t. So bottom line, it's bullsh-t.
