One of my worries with Canales is that he mght have a little of Ron Rivera's "let them go out on their own terms" attitude. Depth chart management was always one of Rivera's weaknesses.

There are times I could swear some of our fans like trading more than they do winning. It seems especially crazy that right as some of our young players are just starting to hit their stride, it's almost guaranteed some yahoo is gonna start shouting "trade him!"

I get that. I'm arguing for a long term commitment to the rotation, but I agree that could be postponed for a little while until Hubbard is confirmed as fully back.

But you also don't want to overuse him and run him into the ground. We've had a habit of that. A two back rotation with Dowdle and a back-to-form Hubbard could be a phenomenal weapon.

I don't actually have a problem with the rotation idea. It's the same as what we did with Williams and Stewart. What I do think is a problem At the moment is I don't believe Hubbard is completely healthy. Once he is, this strategy could be a lot more effective.

I don't pay attention to gambling or gambling laws much so I have no idea what makes it illegal in this particular case. Still, an active head coach and player at the same time...wow

Damn Hard to imagine only two people involved in something like this so I wonder if there will be more arrests coming. My memory isn't what it used to be but I'm not sure I remember a story of an active professional head coach being arrested before, and alongside a player for another team is wild.

I've said before that I think a lot of the folks looking for "the next Cam" don't understand just how unique Newton really was. It's likely to be a loooong time before we see anything close to Newton again.
