Doesn't even require optimism, just enough wisdom to know that a two-game sample doesn't tell you sh-t.
-
Way too early to judge prior draft picks, especially given that some were drafted to fit into systems that aren't being run here anymore (that's what happens when you change coaching staff). As far as Sanders, no he hasn't accomplished anything significant yet. It's still just a couple of games against subpar opponents. His next two games are going to be a lot more challenging. I'd add that if you're hoping for Sanders to become a pro coach, you can drop that idea. He's already stated that he doesn't want to coach at the pro level.

Bryce Young is not ready to be a starting QB in the NFL
Mr. Scot replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mahomes wasn't asked to earn the job. He was deliberately sat for a season. That used to be the norm, but these days it's relatively rare. And sorry, but there was no way Newton wasn't starting his rookie year either. Hell, he looked horrible in preseason three but Rivera & company trotted him out for one series in preseason four and said "he's ready". -
You shouldn't be. It wouldn't look any smarter then. Not just talking about firing a coach after one year (which is a good way to turn yourself into the Cleveland Browns) but also Deion at this point has accomplished less as a college coach than Matt Rhule has. Basing anything on a two-game sample is kinda silly.
-
Not smartly, you couldn't. We invested in protecting him first. I'm good with that because that was the most important thing. Skill players come next. Well one, there's this thing called the draft... As far as the other, that's a matter of cap management. And I seriously doubt the two of them are going to take up 50 million in cap per year.

I'll go ahead and give you a hint, that one doesn't know jack sh-t about football, and I'm talking even basic concepts. He talks big, but he's clueless.
-
At this point, I probably have all of the athletic ability of an old toothpick. But I can at least say I know that a rookie quarterback isn't fully defined after only two games. And hell, I liked a lot of what we saw in him late game. He looked way more comfortable running an up-tempo attack than he did in the first game.
-
I'm gonna say the one who coached him in high school probably at least has an inkling
-
You think Dalton Schultz is "0"? Hell, even Dameon Pierce has looked pretty decent at runningback.
-
Best of the bunch would likely be Dalton Schultz who was franchised by the Cowboys last year (the Mrs was pretty pissed to see them lose him). Then you've got a super promising rookie and Tank Dell and a fairly decent receiver in Nico Collins.
-
I'm gonna guess you're joking, given that firing a coach two games into his stint would make us look like the most ignorant franchise in the league. Good luck hiring anybody after you pull a dumbass stunt like that.
-
Stroud has skill players but a subpar line. Bryce has a solid line but not much in the way of skill players. At this point, I'd rather he be protected. We can get better skill players next year.
-
If I had to guess, I'd say it's as much or more about Young learning then it is about winning. I'm okay with that. I know some of our more emotional crowd will be, but hey...
-
Said the same to Lady Cowboy Fan. Turned to her right at the time they lined up and said "they're not gonna sneak it, this is a fake out" but when the false start blew it up I didn't think we'd see it again. Was kinda happy we did because I wanted to know if I was right
-
Well, not in this conversation.
-
Nah. I just prefer discussing them with smarter people
-
Steve Beuerlein did that once back in 1999. Frank Garcia was the center at the time. Beuerlein told everybody it was because he was tired of looking at Garcia's ass
-
Passion's a lot more interesting when it's tempered by logic. The suggestion that we know anything definitive after just two weeks of this season is damn near deranged.
-
Casillas did that for week one. Not sure if he's able to do it this week or not because he has some...things coming up.
-
I already did. If you don't get it, I can't help you. And based on your reactions, it doesn't look like you do. So for now, don't bother boring me. Try coming up with some kind of critique smarter than "everybody sucks" and maybe we can talk. Till then
-
Come on dude, you're smarter than that. Two games in...
-
Modified WCO Over time, it'll probably look fairly similar to what Brees ran, but we ain't there yet.
-
Yeah, that's a little dramatic
-
To be clear, Reich isn't the only one doing the scheming. He calls the plays (for the moment) but a pretty good portion of the play design was done by Thomas Brown. Mind you though, until we have players ready to successfully execute the concepts that are drawn up, none of that matters.
-
Nah. Matt Rhule may have been stupid to suggest that we needed 5-7 years, but it's equally unrealistic to think everything was going to be fixed in one offseason. We have elements of the team that are good (defense / OL / special teams) and areas that still need some work (skill positions). Further work will be done next year.
