Corral's not necessarily the most objective source.

Trade: Panthers Acquire Ihmir Smith-Marsette from Chiefs
Mr. Scot replied to Bluetooth's topic in Carolina Panthers
Had a feeling Thielen might have had something to do with this. -
That, plus if the local reporters could figure it out, that wouldn't say much for its complexity.

Way too soon to know that but even if it was, it was a low risk one.

Pretty similar to me. I was never a big fan of hiring a college coach but I did what I could to be positive. My first real "uh oh" moment was when Tepper and Marty were telling the story about his interview. Couldn't help but think it sounded like a couple of senior citizens describing how smart the young man who sold them their new insurance policy sounded. When the info about him having total control hit, that was another "grin and stay positive" moment, but the unease was still there. Of course, the start of season two made it look like it was actually going to work though. Everybody was excited, until we hit mid-season and realized it all just been an illusion. The Rhule era (If a three year period can be called that) was a heck of a rollercoaster.

Didn't see that coming... Payton would know him, of course.

No word on his brother Frank

Wonder what the comparison would be between Drummond and Derek Wright

I think so system-wise, but if I recall correctly he's struggled with injuries.

Agree on Howell. I know McAdoo preferred Corral. That one could come back to bite us. I have no hostility toward Rivera. Though like many, I have higher regard for Ron the Man than I do Ron the Coach. There are a lot of skill sets involved in coaching, some more important than others depending on what position you hold. For a head coach, talent evaluation is kind of an important one. There were certainly things To was good at, but that just wasn't one of them.

Talking about some of the releases, Mike Kaye took a look at Brandon Smith. Kaye seems to think the switch to 3-4 hurt him. That plus some of the offseason additions like kKamu Grugier-Hill outperformed him.

Pretty sure he spent the entire 22 season on the practice squad. They likely figure they can keep him there if they wish.

A little more info on him... Reich does love using TEs...

That we got anything at all for a Little and Anderson still amazes me.

It's the same strategy they use in Seattle. They know lower round picks typically don't work out unless you find a good special teamer or two so they basically just take a lot of shots. Mind you though, that's the only draft where we've really done that. The two since haven't looked as much like that.

Behind the scenes info has given us information on some of them, at least. We know for example that Fletcher was a Rhule pick. Corral gets listed as a Rhule pick but from what I've read he was more heavily pushed by Ben McAdoo than Rhule. And as mentioned, some of the changes is going to be attributable to the staff change. That'll work itself out over the next year or two.

Gotta remember that's the long snapper draft (oy) Mind you, three of those are still available for the practice squad. But as has been discussed elsewhere, given the change in coaching staff some turnover were is to be expected.

I said teenager but now I'm thinking I might have overestimated...
