    Morgan's role with the Panthers was expected to focus on pro-personnel since that's his background. With that said, it doesn't matter so much what we think of decisions that he was part of as it does what Tepper thinks.

    One thought: If McClay were to go to the Commanders, he'd become a direct rival to the team he's spent most of his career with. Mind you, working for an a--hole like Jerry Jones might drive one to something like that. However, if he doesn't want to go that route but does want to be the man in charge, the Panthers could at least conceivably make more sense.

    So I suggested elsewhere that rather than be GM, Morgan could be a good person for the role Joe Person has talked about, i.e. an ego handler and a go-between for Tepper and team personnel. I'm probably more comfortable with that idea.
