Rookie FB Ward positioned for success I like this quote... And this one... More...

I agree.

If she had, I guess that would count as a 'no', but apparently she said 'yes'. The happy couple...

As long as he's not doing it by using the Subway Diet, I'm okay with it.

Ravens tight end Crockett Gilmore proposing to his fiance.

I've never trusted that guy.

I've been a Christian for over 40 years and the majority of my close friends are longtime Christians as well. I'm not a fan of stuff like this, and I sincerely doubt any of my friends would endorse it either.

Maybe she did too.

I pray for guidance on every major decision. And as much as I believe that God does indeed provide guidance, the majority of the time when I see Christians saying God told them to do something, what they really mean is one of two things: "Don't hold me accountable for my choices. Blame God." or... "You can't question any part of my decision because it's what God told me to do." One of the more frequent uses I've seen is in breakups, i.e. "God told me to break up with you and date this other girl". Yeah...Sure he did. I have zero respect for Christians who try to avoid responsibility or make their decisions unassailable by attributing them to God. "I prayed about it." Great. "God told me to do it." Yeah, right.

I have no idea if Russell Wilson's faith is real or phony. I do know that in 40 years as a Christian, God has never once told me to date a certain girl or to hold out for a higher salary.

I will freely admit I don't watch soccer and don't follow the World Cup, but that doesn't stop me from saying congrats to the US ladies for winning, Heck, if we won the world hide and seek tournament, I'd say "good job".

What about when it's a couple hundred of them on a message board?

Sounds like a Syfy original movie.

That might be a common sentiment. Given their respective personalities, I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh entertained thoughts of breaking Cowherd in half.
-
So apparently, Colin Cowherd interviewed Jim Harbaugh today and...well, let's just say things didn't go very well. Video of the awkward interview here.

Not Panther related, but seriously WTF America?

You know, there are few people I feel like I've been more wrong about than Roman Harper. i hated the persona he had with the Saints, but seeing him away from the field really humanizes him. Throw in that I can't recall ever seeing any free agent so completely throw himself into being a Panther like Harper has. Add in the comments from the young guys saying he's taught them a lot about how to play, and ya gotta respect the guy. He may not be a starter this season (or at least not the entire season) but I'm honestly glad he's part of the team.

Definitely. You've still got the three major established offenses, but each team and each OC is gonna have their own unique take on whatever base offense they're running. So while the base concepts are still there, Norv Turner's Coryell and Hue Jackson's Coryell are each going to have their own finer points. And then when you throw in stuff like Chip Kelly's offense, spread concepts, read option attacks, etc. There's a lot out there these days. I look at it kinda like the old martial arts. Used to be the teachers of Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, etc all wanted nothing to do with the other arts, but here in the day of 'mixed martial arts', it's loosened up a lot. The base systems are all still there, but with more freedom to take whatever works.

I don't agree with his conclusion but I respect the logic.

Disagree on the base offense, although I definitely see where you're coming from. The closest I saw to it being a pure E-P under our current coaches was back in 2013 when they dialed back on the vertical and had Cam doing more short passing. It actually worked better than I expected it to, but I think with Cam's skill set and the way the team is being tooled, it's going to be more straight Coryell. I'd actually prefer E-P honestly, but given the players we've got I definitely see the offense to come being more of a pure Coryell. Funchess in particular is someone I see being well suited to that. Mind you, despite his admiration for Norv Turner, I'm not sure Rivera has a preferred offensive system. Back when we were looking at new OCs, the choices were all over the map.

There are plenty of people on here who likely couldn't name the major offensive systems in pro football, much less differentiate between them. Heck, they're probably in the majority. And truth be told, nobody should feel bad about that. You don't need to be a football expert to contribute to the conversation on here. Just being a relatively informed watcher is enough. Some who get lost when the conversation gets really deep aren't too proud to ask questions, and they should be lauded for that. It's the people who don't know the deeper aspects of the game, but try to act like they do in order to puff up their image, who wind up looking stupid. Being that way is how you wind up saying something dumb (like we've seen in this thread).

Out of sheer morbid curiosity, I'll ask: What exactly do you think we're running?

Our offense is a Coryell system. I sincerely doubt that you have a clue what that means.

I don't think Rivera is all that fluent in "coach speak". I've always gotten the impression he just says what he thinks.
