  1. If Morgan were to join, we'd have him, Kuechly and Julius Peppers all working for the team (granted, Peppers isn't in player personnel).
  2. First name that comes to mind is Mike Ditka. He wasn't necessarily great long-term but he did get a Super Bowl ring and coached one of the best teams in history. Thought provoking question though. I feel like I'm missing somebody.
  3. ...and an ugly ass lighting fixture behind him.
  4. The nature of all football front office work is trying to predict the future. It can't be done, but some people's efforts are better than others.
  5. Based on what he said today, it doesn't sound like they're going to be any major front office changes, and maybe none at all, until after the Draft. Fitterer wants to get to know the people that are already in place and evaluate them before making any decisions. I still think Morgan ultimately ends up here but I don't know that it happens quickly.
  6. I'll go back to something I asked earlier. Would you judge Sean McDermott by what Ron Rivera accomplished? He's been part of a show for a while. Now it's his show. Let's see what he can do.
  7. Guys like Bonds, McGwire and Sosa did it with steroids and favorable conditions. Babe Ruth did it with beer and cheeseburgers. Hank Aaron did it with character and will.
  8. Well ya know, if they're going to reach that far, I coached a group of sixth and seventh graders to an undefeated season in flag football a couple years back. I'm not taking the job unless I'm guaranteed full roster control though.
  9. I define being in the playoffs as being a contender, though to be a serious contender it helps to do well in the playoffs. That's all semantics though. Whatever word you wanna use for having at least a measure of success, they're it...and we're not.
  10. This is probably a fair point. And to be clear, this isn't McCown's fault. He's not the one making the decisions. Not exactly a good look for Caserio though. They're trying to make people think the official company car is manufactured by Mercedes. Right now it looks closer to Ringling Brothers.
  11. If we're Seattle East, does that make the Bills Seattle East North? (I'm not even gonna ask what that makes Washington)
  12. Yeah, but we've barely even sniffed it since then. They've been a contender on an annual basis. We can talk about the methodology and everything, but the bottom line is whatever they're doing, they're doing it better than us.
  13. Ran all over us the first time we played against him. The team was calling him "White Vick" back then. Steve Smith still calls him "White Chocolate"
  14. To be clear, McCown is a super smart guy. Plenty of people that have worked with him say he has the potential to be a head coach in the NFL someday. He's also gutsy and a leader, as evidenced by his playing through injury for the Eagles last year. And if they were talking about giving him a shot at being a quarterback coach or an offensive assistant or something like that to get his foot in the door, I'd be saying "good choice". But discussing your head coaching job with that guy who's never been so much as coached high school? That's a little beyond "outside the box".
  15. I don't typically find myself applauding the Falcons, but...
  16. ...but not the one you might think. I like McCown but seriously, Houston? As to Caldwell, this'd be his second interview with the Texans but his first with Nick Caserio.
  17. I remember Seattle drafting some guy named Sherman in the fifth round a few years back. That same year, we used our (higher) fifth rounder on Kealoha Pilares. Also spent earlier picks on Sione Fua, Terrell McClain and Brandon Hogan.
  18. I'd imagine Stafford also remembers that Mayhew is the guy who built the team that went 0-16.
  19. Randy Fasani is the name you say when somebody starts making too much of a player's outstanding performance in the preseason.
  20. From what I've read, I think that comes from Pete Carroll. And for sure, he'll be working with Matt Rhule so whatever Rhule prioritizes, he will too.
  21. From the article... "But before we do anything outside, I need to figure out who's here. I need to figure out this roster. I need to figure out who's on our offensive line, who's on our defensive line. I know them from a 30,000-foot view, but I need to know them from a coaching standpoint, and a personal standpoint, and meet these guys and see what they're made of. Confirming again that the trenches are central to his team building philosophy...
  22. It's a phrase Scott Fitterer used in his presser. Basically it means that they're going to explore every opportunity. Ian Rapoport mentioned that pretty much anytime there's a player coming available or something like that happening, when Insiders go to check on who might be interested, Seattle is just about always on the list. And once they identify someone they want, they go after them aggressively. Sounds like that's gonna be us from here on out, so if you've been frustrated in the past, asking yourself questions like "Why aren't the Panthers checking into this?", you should probably be pretty happy now.
  23. When Muhsin Muhammad was drafted, he said he was happy to be a North Carolina Panther. We were still pretty new at the time so it was forgivable. Now, not so much.
