  1. Rhule hasn't been especially happy, per reports.
  2. If you want to know what Rhule has been like coaching these sessions someone who was there said you can tell he used to work with Tom Coughlin.
  3. Seriously think this is the direction they're headed.
  4. No argument. Sometimes it's just a matter of picking the right person to run it. Andrew Berry looks decent so far. I hope the same can be said of us next year.
  5. It's possible. For our part, we run what I'd consider to be a quarterback friendly system.
  6. To be fair, we probably would have said the same thing about the Browns last year. (granted, it is just one year)
  7. For what it's worth, minority candidates did better on the GM front than the coaching front this offseason. Of the six GM jobs available, half (Detroit, Atlanta and Washington) ended up being minority hires. I'd have to look it up, but if I'm remembering correctly all but maybe one or two of the Falcons GM candidates were actually minorities. Likely to be another if Kevin Colbert retires.
  8. I could live with that. Don't think I've got a whole lot of company on that front though.
  9. Absolutely. Heck, by the time Brady had his first entry level job at William and Mary, Bieniemy had already been coaching for 13 years.
  10. Hell, he's got more coaching experience at the pro level than Matt Rhule does.
  11. His resumé isn't "paper thin". Hell, he's associated with one of the best offenses in the league right now. It is valid that he might be overshadowed by Andy Reid though.
  12. If the guy running your coaching search is someone like David Tepper, that answer gets you a "thank you for coming". If it's being run by Chris Spielman though, "Hell yeah! You're hired!"
  13. Yeah, and although the NFL has taken some steps to correct the problem, it's still true that being successful frequently winds up hurting you.
  14. I don't think race is a factor in this particular instance. That doesn't exclude it from being a factor in other cases.
  15. His path does kind of mirror Ron Rivera's on that front. Who's involved makes a difference too. Take Detroit. One of the guys spearheading their search was Chris Spielman. That probably goes a long way toward explaining how Dan Campbell got the job. There's also the "who you know" element like with Nick Sirianni. Common belief is that his connection with Frank Reich helped get him that job because Reich was good for Carson Wentz.
  16. For my part, I'd probably have taken Bieniemy over Leslie Frazier. Frazier's already been a head coach once and it didn't go that well. And going back to a prior discussion, I still think Bieniemy's enthusiasm for working with Newton probably hurt his chances here.
  17. Also to clarify, there's been no confirmation that Bieniemy dropped out. It's possible he might have, but nobody's saying anything like that (that I've seen anyway). There was a guy saying beforehand that he wouldn't even interview, but obviously that turned out not to be true.
  18. I don't know whether McNair is racist. I grant it's possible. I do know he's stupid. The operative guy in the coaching search right now though is Nick Caserio. He basically threw out everything that happened before he was hired and started it over.
  19. So they're down to two black candidates, but they're still racist?
  20. It'd be kind of hard to pin a racial element to the Texans coaching search given that both their remaining candidates are black. Granted, they're morons, just not necessarily racist morons.
  21. Don't know if this has been posted, but
  22. He actually just took a college job (DC at the University of Missouri). If I were McDermott though, I'd probably go with Bob Babich.
  23. Side Note: If the Texans were to choose Leslie Frazier, our old buddy Eric Washington could be in line for a defensive coordinator job again. I don't know that it'd be a good idea, but hey...
  24. From what I've read, Bridgewater's contract is only a problem this year. It's conceivable at least that another veteran could be brought in and one year of "bullet biting" might take place with an eye towards the future.
