  1. Full disclosure: I've never heard of The Defector.
  2. From the article... So I guess he yelled at some kids and might have hurt their feelings and stuff. SOMEBODY STOP HIM!
  3. Last I'd seen, he had a role assisting players with planning out their lives after and outside of football and such. Moving into a personnel related role probably hurt him once changes started being made.
  4. I think I might understand a little better after looking up what he was doing now. From the Panthers media guide: In his role, Carrier works with all facets of the football operations, consulting with general manager Marty Hurney on all football-related topics, including player evaluations, staff makeup and team direction. He attends events throughout the calendar year to interact with draft-eligible players and assess their team fit. Yeah...Those duties are gonna belong to somebody Rhule and Fitterer hire.
  5. I know a lot of people think Caserio is gonna be great. I'm not one of them. I've seen enough of him to know that he knows sh-t, but I don't think that's gonna help him.
  6. For the record, Porter was basically the guy who replaced Brandon Beane in his old logistical role when Beane moved on up to personnel. He came aboard about the same time Marty did.
  7. Carrier seems odd to me in the sense that he's been with the team forever starting from when he was a player. But in the sense that he wasn't tied to Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer or David Tepper? No.
  8. This dude. Some on, man. Mark Carrier, Willie Green, Don Beebe... How do you not know those names?!
  9. Related: The hire of Mayhew and Hurney has resulted in former do-it-all guy Kyle Smith moving on from Washington to the Falcons.
  10. According to Josh Klein, this actually happened last week but hadn't been announced.
  11. Mark Carrier is a surprise. He's been here pretty much since the beginning.
  12. Pretty sure the next step in the strategy is to have David Culley try and convince him that he's gonna make it all better. Will that work? No idea.
  13. From what I've read, it's possible but it would take a ridiculous deal plus an awful lot of convincing from Caserio and Culley. And frankly, I wouldn't bet on them being big fans of trading him either.
  14. Worth remembering the Lions are under a bit of a deadline. If they don't get him shipped by March 21st, they owe him another 10 million on this year's cap. That's an awful lot to pay a guy who isn't playing for you.
  15. Going off of John McClain, and what he says makes perfect sense. Aaron Wilson echoes similar thoughts.
  16. Yeah, I was gonna say Ace has already suggested that on here.
  17. After the flack he took for that, and the fact that he fired the guy who came up with the idea, you think he's still willing to go down that road again? McNair's ego isn't going to allow him to lose this fight.
  18. The only way they can deal him and still look like winners is if they get an offer so ridiculous it makes people's jaws drop. And frankly, I don't wanna be the team on the other end of that kinda deal.
  19. Think that'll stop them if the team is losing without him? Whether he screws him over or drives him away, he's the villain no matter what. Hell, even if they reconcile, people are still gonna hate McNair regardless.
  20. There's some timelines / deadlines to consider here too. For Watson, if nothing happens by this year's draft you can basically put away that saga till next year because the Texans are said to be 1) willing to let him sit out the season and 2) not interested in any deal that only involves future draft picks. As far as Stafford though, the Lions need to get that deal done by March 21st. If they don't they owe him an additional 10 million dollars for this season.
  21. None of those guys were a franchise quarterback. And none of the owners involved were Cal McNair.
  22. About the only thing I could see from the team's side in a case like that is fines, maybe suspension for "conduct detrimental" or some such. Worth remembering though that's also a really good way to piss off your teammates. Like say, the OL guys who are the only ones standing between you and the 300 pound monsters that wanna crush your skull.
