People were expecting a pretty crazy quarterback carousel this year. Now I'm not so sure. Seems like the Stafford deal skewed everybody's expectations a little bit. Now some teams are thinking "hey if they got that, we can get it too" even though their quarterbacks don't have anywhere near the ability that Stafford does.

Asking a guy "hey, what do you think" is fine. Having them actually be part of the decision making, not so much.

Not quite true... The Texans offered to let Watson be part of their coaching and GM search. He didn't ask for it. It was a stupid idea, but they did it. Then they made it worse by not following through on their promise.

I feel like I'm watching potentially the biggest train wreck in NFL history in super slow motion. It's no exaggeration to say that right now Mark Davis (haircut and all) looks like a more qualified heir to NFL ownership than Cal McNair does.

Good analysis. Guess you could say we've got biblical, literary and historical examples
-
Honestly, if you're looking for imagery that represents Easterby and McNair, I'd go here.

If a QB isn’t there at 8... Slater is your pick

Thanks a lot, Bugs -
Oh sure...

Ouch.

Heck, they're only getting started. I can't imagine being a Texans fan right now.

He'd been with the team for a long while. Caserio seems to be wasting no time pushing out establish executives so he can get his own people in there. Also, from what I've read, Rootes had some conflict with Jack Easterby. So for anyone hoping the organization and Easterby are going to part ways, this probably isn't a good sign. Beginning to think we dodged a major bullet by not hiring Caserio.

Just saw that. Interesting...

Worth remembering the process here... The Hall of Fame voters are largely media. In order to get in, one of those voters has to present a strong argument for your inclusion. Smith hasn't always had the greatest relationship with the media.

From what I've read, he looked kinda rough in the Senior Bowl practices too. -
I actually did look at his Twitter. It doesn't necessarily say rehab to me but the amount of stuff he's retweeted about suicide prevention would make me kind of concerned. It's possible of course that all that means is it's a big deal to him. He may know someone who killed themselves.

Even over Sewell? -
Probably a better question to ask a more objective audience. My answer: Don't know. As others have said, probably but it'll be a while because there are so many great receivers still waiting. Thinking he's a lot for first ballot is probably homerish.

Carolina Panthers 2021 Front Office news*

The business roles I would expect to be filled. They may have decided some of the football roles were redundant though. -
Wentz update: Trade is close, with three teams involved
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I haven't seen talk that anyone offered more than a first rounder from any of the sources. I've seen talk that the Eagles wanted that, and even that Chris Ballard hung up on them when they asked for it, but not that anyone was offering it. -
Wentz update: Trade is close, with three teams involved

They were already confirmed to be in negotiations with three teams when the story came out. Why would you need to drum up a market when there already is one? The problem is they're asking too much and nobody's willing to meet their price. -
Maybe down the road...

Rap on Mariota and Carr... Starting to wonder if the Stafford trade might not have set some unrealistic expectations for teams looking to trade a quarterback.

He's good, real good. I suppose the pertinent question would be if we're rebuilding, how much do you want to invest in older players?

A pretty big douche won his seventh Super Bowl this weekend. -
Schottenheimer at least was 77. These other guys.: 46? 48? 37? Damn! Chris Mortensen put it well, saying that at his age he understands the time left is finite. It's sad to hear in someone younger though.
