  1. His performance in the playoff game he started certainly earned him some consideration.
  2. I know I'm nowhere near as fast as I used to be when I was young, but if I were being chased by a 300 pound defensive lineman, you might be surprised how fast I could go.
  3. Focusing on the big picture would probably help. One of the big facepalms I always used to have when people were talking about Hurney was folks saying "but he drafted this great player" or "he made that great trade", after which I'd say "Yes but we still didn't win jack so what difference does it make?" I've seen teams have offseasons that looked like refried monkey sh-t, yet somehow they were better when they hit the field. Likewise, I've seen teams make offseason moves that made people drool, only to turn around and miss the playoffs by a mile. They're going to make questionable moves, miss on draft picks, fail to resign free agents and overpay others. I can live with that. It's how we look at the end of the season that matters.
  4. Over the course of the season, I don't know that a lot of people were. Poor performances in big games like Northwestern and Alabama made people nervous though, and it's reasonable that they would.
  5. I don't necessarily think it's a bad deal for a backup. Concerns people might have about his ability to stay healthy though are pretty well warranted.
  6. Ryan Tannehill did a lot to help with that. I feel fairly certain that if Darnold does wind up traded, Tannehill's name will be mentioned by the team that trades for him.
  7. No, but there's a reasonable expectation that the Texans could want an established quarterback as part of any trade package. That's been the engine behind some of the speculation about the Texans and Carson Wentz.
  8. Fair point. Same standard applies though.
  9. My biggest question: Would the Jets be willing to part with Darnold prior to the draft if they think there's a possibility the Texans might change their mind about trading Watson?
  10. That's a new one. Normally would have expected Michael Scott, Shia LaBeouf or Darth Vader for that sentiment.
  11. Marty signing a guy with a propensity to get injured?
  12. Send me a message. I can give you a great deal on a time machine.
  13. Wouldn't bet on it. I don't doubt that we'd legitimately check. Thing is that shouldn't be taken to mean we're ready to trade a huge load of picks for him.
  14. Apparently Tepper didn't. Would love to someday hear more about the process but if that happens at all, it'll probably be a while.
  15. It's been mentioned before, but "in on every deal" was always likely to include some that fans aren't gonna like.
  16. I'll grant I could change my opinion between now and The Draft, but right now the thought of trading up for any of the three potential targets everybody's talking about scares the hell out of me. They all have concerns that make me very nervous.
  17. Rapoport showing off his investigative skills. Also...
  18. From Dane Brugler's latest mock in The Athletic. Brugler also has the Panthers trading up to #3, giving up this year's first, third and fifth along with next year's first. He then has them drafting Justin Fields after Lawrence and Wilson go one and two.
  19. At the moment, they're turning down everybody. They're not even listening to the offers. As to why the Jets, probably because they can offer the highest pick of anyone but the Jags, who aren't trading. Hence, they're the only team that can guarantee one of this year's top two quarterbacks.
  20. You'd have gotten drunk and thrown the Lombardi trophy across a river?
  21. Newton still had what, four years left on his contract at that point and hadn't started getting injured. If we'd have drafted Mahomes (or any quarterback) while Newton still had four years left on his deal people would have gone apesh-t.
  22. And I believe to do so could be a mistake, especially in the top ten.
  23. Not to defend Marty because he's basically correct, but it's kinda hard to take this seriously given that the guy writing it doesn't seem to know Marty didn't do all the drafting of the past five years, and in fact didn't draft the particular player he cites as an example.
  24. The team's position is that they're not trading him at all, and McClain echoes that. He said it would be the Jets if they changed their mind, but he doesn't believe they will. Right now, most people don't.
