  1. LaCanfora is like Brett Favre as a passer. He can be perfectly accurate, or he can be wildly off the mark. And to be fair, we have heard these things before from Verge and others. The vast majority of this article is just LaCanfora finding different ways to say that David Tepper has big balls and wants a franchise quarterback. Also have to admit the part where he says future first round picks are "just burning a hole in his pocket" is another one that made me cringe.
  2. Yeah, pretty much Joking aside, I'll be one of the first to acknowledge the Texans are stupid but even I don't think they're that stupid. Could easily see them asking for Burns and Chinn, or at the very least Burns and Jackson. And while I'm not the biggest Donte Jackson fan, that still makes me wince.
  3. Less relevant to the current situation, but near the end of the article LaCanfora seems to hint that Tepper was more than ready to move on from Cam Newton in part because he wasn't "his guy'.
  4. John McClain believed the asking price would include two defensive starters. I know some folks are thinking the Texans would settle for somebody like Shaq Thompson but that doesn't really sound logical to me.
  5. Nah, I think it's possible. Though gun to my head, I don't think he'll be traded. And even this article admits there are people with better resources to do the trade than us. As to LaCanfora, he's very hit or miss. He was pretty spot on during the Cam Newton saga but was way off more recently in some of his reporting on the GM search. This is probably one of those cases where his reliability is judged by whether he's saying what you want to hear. Even David Newton becomes reliable under those circumstances.
  6. I did, and wasn't a fan of certain parts, like this one... I suspect the Panthers will be willing to get quite creative (including emerging pass rushing force Brian Burns in any package may be even more attractive than McCaffrey)
  7. From the article... Don't expect the Texans to seriously entertain moving Watson until much closer to the draft – all the better to keep trying to drive the price up – but if/when they do, the Panthers will be motivated to make it happen. Yes, the Jets and Dolphins, for starters, may have more additional draft capital, but I suspect the Panthers will be willing to get quite creative (including emerging pass rushing force Brian Burns in any package may be even more attractive than McCaffrey, though that dual-threat running back could certainly kick start an offensive resurgence for any young QB should the Texans prefer to draft a passer in the event Watson is in fact dealt).
  8. No. I'm advising a guy he got the wrong link. Not complicated.
  9. FYI: Link goes to a mock draft by Pete Prisco, dude
  10. Nothing yet. Josh Klein does pretty well at watching that sort of thing, though.
  11. I wouldn't. If a team has interest in more than one of the available quarterbacks though, I could see pressing ahead with it. Probably still wiser for Miami to hang on to it though.
  12. I've said before I think Miami would be wise to hang on to the #3 pick up until draft time just in case the Texans change their minds. It might also be wise for a trade partner to hold off until they see what happens at #2.
  13. If I'm remembering correctly O'Sullivan is a former NFL quarterback.
  14. Lord, that blue turf just doesn't look right. Said before, I think he's great. I'm just afraid he won't hold up physically at the pro level. That's a big reason why the idea of giving up what we'd need to trade up for him makes me really nervous.
  15. Maybe. Or perhaps, crazy as it sounds, I'm just a guy that likes to talk football who has a different opinion than you. (most people don't actually seem to have an issue with that)
  16. If you're really trying to screw something up though, are those the people you want on the job? I'd probably reach out to people like Dan Snyder, Matt Millen, Adam Gase, Matt Patricia and Marty Hurney.
  17. I confess I haven't actually seen this before. Is it an annual thing?
  18. It's gonna be a complicated year. Lesser than expected salary cap makes it difficult to keep your own while also making it difficult for other teams to sign your guys away. Might be like watching one of those shows where they see who can save the most with coupons.
  19. I think a lot of people would. But how seriously do you take the idea of the Texans saying "You know what? Teddy Bridgewater and Shaq Thompson is a good return for trading away Deshaun Watson"? (I'm gonna guess not very)
  20. I acknowledge the possibility. The longer we go though, the more sources I see taking seriously that the Texans might actually drag this fight out over an entire season. Albert Breer was talking about just that not long ago. Honestly, the thing I feel most comfortable saying is that whatever happens, the Texans are going to handle it badly.
  21. You might want to take notice of the conversation we had above.
  22. Believe it or not, I don't actually view the football discussions I have on here as a mission with an objective. It's literally just football talk. If you take it a little more seriously than I do, well...
  23. I don't believe it will. I do however acknowledge that it could. That's not exactly a complicated position. Here's the fun part though: I could spend all of my time saying "yes it's going to happen" and talking up even the slightest possibility whenever someone mentions anything. Would you like to guess how much impact that would have on what ultimately does happen? I'll give you a hint...
  24. They might not, but I definitely believe they're going to give it their damndest. Well, short of the obvious step of firing Jack Easterby. (that they value him enough to keep him in the middle of all this mess is just insane to me)
  25. Knew you were We've got some folks who absolutely don't want to hear anything other than that what they want is gonna happen. And hey, maybe it will, but taking it as a guarantee is setting yourself up for disappointment.
