I daresay Bryce doesn't seem very "comfortable" in games right now. If that's the goal, it ain't workin'

Yes they are. Fans on here might have info about five to ten guys they like because they've seen highlights of them. GM's have to have info on hundreds. They also have to be able to look beyond the highlights and attempt to project things like character, medical, etc. and not just in the first round, but all the way down to the seventh and undrafted players. Fans on a message board thinking they could do better just because they picked a certain guy in hindsight are roughly equivalent to the people who think they could coach an NFL game because they won a Super Bowl in Madden.

The correct answer is "a lot". Even the worst GMs and personnel people in the league know infinitely more about football than the average fan.
-
That's basically the question they asked Reich. His answer was because they could block power/man. So was it his assumption that if they could do one, they could automatically do the other regardless of their physical make up or skill set? I'd expect James Campen would know that's not necessarily true but there's no way to know whether he said anything or not.

The blocking problems? Yeah.
-
We have big, "road grader" type offensive line personnel but we're running a zone blocking scheme that requires smaller, more agile linemen to be effective. It's roughly equivalent to sending a big blocking tight end on a speed route while asking a small scatback to single block a defensive end.
-
It's a valid question...but one that I don't think we can answer yet. Don't think we can wait past next season to answer it, though.
-
No. Juan did. That's why I quoted him, then added context.

GMs don't deal with schemes. SOP in the NFL world is coaches tell GMs the sort of players they need to run their offense, defense, whatever. The coaching staff didn't ask for any changes to the offensive line. They were pretty happy with the performance they saw last year.
-
That makes sense. All I knew is he wasn't a reliable source. Pretty sure the Brian Burns tweet got posted here as well.
-
Oy No, Rhule is not a better NFL coach than Frank Reich...or Josh McDaniels ...or pretty much anybody else besides other college coaches who lucked into pro jobs. This is what they call being "a prisoner of the moment".
-
The personnel were already here and playing great. The coaching staff was glad to have them. Then they changed schemes...
-
Given who I was responding to, it's more attention than they deserve.
-
That response wasn't to you.
-
I get why you want to keep the argument on simple terms, but it's also misleading. That could be deliberate or accidental. My guess is it's the former
-
I don't know if Tepper is lying or just incompetent. Same result either way, though
-
So was I...when they were there. They went away from it though. I get that after the game got out of control, but not before. Yesterday was argumably the best usage of Hubbard and Sanders they had. Would like to have seen Blackshear used more but at least it was something. Hell, mid first half, I thought that might be the story of the game
-
2023, I'd agree. Said elsewhere I think they need a veteran competitor for next year though (as opposed to strictly a mentor).
-
Thanks. You actually just bolstered my point, but I'm guessing you don't get that
-
I do,but that doesn't mean you shy away from something that can work just because someone might see you doing it.

Except it does... And to be clear, Olsen has had no issue criticizing the Panthers before.
