This is an exhausted and incorrect take. Josh Allen is 6'5 Malik Willis is barely 6' They both don't have elite physical traits. Willis and Allen have completely different frames and upsides.

I agree with the last point. Look at San Francisco as a reference. They have had a surprising amount of success with the QB not being the focal point of the team. Did they draft a guy they like? Of course, and you should do that if the right player is there. But they didn't force anything, sat him a year, and went with Jimmy G despite the fact that everyone knows he isn't a franchise QB.

The goal is not to "energize the fanbase." The goal is to win. And you don't win by swinging and missing on top 10 picks. You better be right. And Willis is not the guy I would gamble on.

A couple of things to put this in perspective if the Watson debacle shakes out with the Panthers losing out on Watson: - Watson's legal and disciplinary troubles are not over. - He does have a history of knee injuries that is worrisome. - The Panthers are not one player away from winning a championship like the Rams were last year. - We are only into the 2nd year of the new GM's influence on the team

The thing with Ridder is that, in theory, all of his downsides are "coachable." He can add weight, he can study film, he can learn defenses, he can work through reads and progressions. But his size, athleticism, and arm are things that you can't coach. For me, it would be about talking to him, his coaches, his teammates, and getting him on the board with my offensive scheme. I would need to know that he has that room to grow.

He has the tools. He just may not be able to put it all together. To me he is the biggest boom or bust prospect in the draft.

Willis will likely be a good backup QB for a long time. But I don't see more than a Tyrod Taylor type of career for him.

I don't think you watched the same games as the rest of us. Elflein was constantly bullied at guard. He actually looked serviceable at center.

No, I think the concern is that we are losing a ton of young talent that was only going to get better. There would be no foundational defensive pieces to speak of at that point, which says a lot considering the draft investment.

This would be in addition to losing Gilmore, Jackson, and Reddick. Make no mistake, we are losing half of our starting defense from last season.

This would be a problem that any team Watson goes to would face. There aren't any teams in the hunt with an established coach that looks to be safe going forward. It's more about whether Watson believes in the vision of the franchise or not.
