  1. hopefully he brings the legal hits, I know Rod was miffed at his nut shot penalty last game.
  2. "The Carolina Hurricanes aim to square up their second round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning before the series shifts to Florida. Game 2 (3) Tampa Bay Lightning vs. (1) Carolina Hurricanes Tampa Bay leads series 1-0 Tuesday, June 1, 7:30 p.m. Watch: NBCSN Listen: 99.9 FM The Fan, Hurricanes.com/Listen, Hurricanes app Tracking the Storylines Resilience: A game into the Second Round, the Canes are facing their first series deficit of this postseason. But it's just one game, and a best-of-seven against the defending Stanley Cup champions figured to be a grind and a battle. This Canes group has been resilient all season, and now they have to dig deep and even up the series before it shifts to Tampa. "Nothing has come easy for this group, ever. Nothing is ever handed to them. Everything they've gotten they've earned," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "We're in the playoffs. We're going to have to go earn every inch of ice we get and every goal. This group has always bounced back. I don't expect anything different." Next Man Up: Nino Niederreiter, who was one of the Canes' two 20-goal scorers in the regular season, is "very, very doubtful" to return in the Second Round, according to Brind'Amour. Niederreiter did not play in Game 1 after leaving practice early over the weekend. In his absence, Cedric Paquette dressed for the first time since April 29, after he missed the last six games of the regular season with a lower-body injury. "Injuries happen. That's part of the game," Brady Skjei said. "It's the next guy up. I think this team's depth is one of the strongest assets. We know the next guy up is going to step up and fill those minutes."" https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/game-2-preview-tampa-bay-lightning-carolina-hurricanes/c-325105582 https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/game-2-projected-lineup-tampa-bay-lightning-carolina-hurricanes/c-325117026 "Here is the projected lineup for the Hurricanes. No Nino obviously. Gotta get this one and take that momentum into Tampa. Hopefully they get the slush issue fixed too.
  3. Do we know what Nino's injury is? Tripp said in game six he was benched in the last 10 minutes, I looked but didn't see anything that would suggest anything serious.
  4. We need to practice vs Mrazek or Reimer. All of our good shot placements would have gone in vs. a smaller goalie like Ned or Saros. Its been too long since we faced something else.
  5. Ice was a factor in that too. He second guessed himself and didn't get the proper traction to readjust to the post.
  6. @zacka77ack @TrevorLaurenceTime22 Y'all going? Rock that house if you are.
  7. Round two begins at 5PM EST. Facing last years champs. 16.3k fans allowed in the house(I believe that's a league high this season). PNC is gonna be rocking!!!
  8. "The Central Division champion Carolina Hurricanes open their Second Round series against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Game 1 (3) Tampa Bay Lightning (36-17-3, 75 points) vs. (1) Carolina Hurricanes (36-12-8, 80 points) Sunday, May 30, 5 p.m. Watch: NBCSN Listen: 99.9 FM The Fan, Hurricanes.com/Listen, Hurricanes app Numbers to Know 5: Sebastian Aho scored two goals, including the deciding goal in overtime, in Game 6 of the First Round. Aho finished the series with five goals, ranking tied for most in a single series in franchise history. 3-0: The Canes were 3-0 in the First Round with Jaccob Slavin in the lineup and just 1-2 without him. 18: Cedric Paquette won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2020. He missed the last six games of the regular season with a lower-body injury and did not play in the First Round, though he was available. Will he see game action against his former team? If so, it won't be because of that sole reason. "You want to get him in because I know he's effective, but to your point, who are you taking out? At this point, we're playing pretty well, and I like how the group is going," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "There's a good chance he'll get in here. With the way things go, very rarely do you get through a whole couple series without guys getting nicked up. He's ready to go if we need him." The Opposition On the road (regular season): 15-10-3 CAR vs. TB: 4-3-1 Leading scorer (regular season): Brayden Point, 48 points (23g, 25a) in 56 games Leading scorer (playoffs): Nikita Kucherov, 11 points (3g, 8a) in 6 games The Lightning claimed the first-ever Battle of Florida, eliminating the Panthers in six games in the First Round. The return of Nikita Kucherov bolstered Tampa Bay's already prolific offense. The Russian winger, who missed the entirety of the regular season, led the NHL in First Round scoring with 11 points (3g, 8a) in six games." https://www.nhl.com/news/tampa-bay-lightning-carolina-hurricanes-series-preview/c-325055270?tid=325048026 https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/game-1-projected-lineup-tampa-bay-lightning-carolina-hurricanes/c-325085580 "With Niederreiter's status in mind, here is the projected lineup for the Hurricanes. Get physical and score early.
  9. NHL.com breakdown of the series. https://www.nhl.com/news/tampa-bay-lightning-carolina-hurricanes-series-preview/c-325055270?tid=325048026 "No. 1 Carolina Hurricanes vs. No. 3 Tampa Bay Lightning Hurricanes: 4-2 to win Stanley Cup First Round against No. 4 Nashville Predators; 36-12-8, 80 points in regular season Lightning: 4-2 to win Stanley Cup First Round against No. 2 Florida Panthers; 36-17-3, 75 points in regular season Season series: CAR 4-3-1; TBL 4-3-1 Game 1: Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS) The Hurricanes and Lightning will play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time. Tampa Bay, which won the Stanley Cup last season, defeated the No. 2 Panthers in the NHL's first All-Florida playoff series in the first round, winning 4-0 at home in Game 6 on Wednesday to complete its fifth consecutive playoff series win, all in six games or fewer. Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov led all skaters in the series with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) after missing the entire regular season recovering from hip surgery Dec. 29. "I'm not impressed anymore, it's just how good he is," Lightning forward Pat Maroon said of Kucherov. "It's unbelievable. He works so hard at his craft and what he does. The way he works, his work ethic when he was trying to come back, working on his game and the little things he does, I'm not shocked or surprised by his performance in this series." Carolina advanced with back-to-back come-from-behind overtime wins against the Predators, 3-2 in Game 5 and 4-3 in Game 6. Each time they were down going into the third period before scoring to force overtime. Forward Jordan Staal scored the winner in Game 5 and forward Sebastian Aho scored the series-clinching goal in Game 6. The Hurricanes have won four of six playoff series since 2019. They defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals in the first round in 2019, when they reached the Eastern Conference Final. "You knew if we got through this [first round] series, whether it was Florida or Tampa, for me, it was going to be the next best team in the League," Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "Either one, pick 'em. Stanley Cup champs, or I thought Florida played great all year. We're getting the Stanley Cup champs. We know what we're up against. We're going to have to be as good as we can to have a chance against these guys, especially now that they've got their full group back. It's a great challenge for us. We'll give it all we've got." The Hurricanes won two of the last three regular-season games against the Lightning (2-0-1), who won three in a row against Carolina from Feb. 22-25."
  10. I really hope you are correct. I saw shitty schemes and play call on top of all that and hope it was a fluke year due to transitions and personnel but i am worried snow is going to sink the whole ship.
  11. Kinda sucks we don't have a full day off but i like that we are practicing. Tampa is a whole different beast.
  12. I mean realistically we only allowed what, one ppg on 24 attempts? Cause two were 5v3? TB is 8/20 PP & 6 on 22 Penalty Kills.
