  1. Remember, the players still get paid on the exempt list. So there is no reason to exempt them unless it’s detrimental to the NFL’s pocket and a arbitrator will never uphold a suspension for no cause. That’s the rub. Yes it’s broad but the players don’t take any penalty they wouldn’t have already. He’s talking for the NFL but mostly for media hype. There is no such rule. There is precedent in the Adrian Peterson case, they waited until he was indicted. But the moment he was they whisked away to the exempt list. If Watson is indicted by the grand jury with felony charges and they don’t follow their precedent here, that’s going to be a very bad double standard for the NFL. And worse for the team that traded for him, because they’ll be on the hook for the entire exempt list payments while things are ongoing, in this case Watson could end up with substantial jail time. So in our case we’d end up footing the bill while he’s on the exempt list, if he’s convicted he’ll get suspended so we’ll get that money back but if it’s a serious conviction we’ll have to cut him anyways. So basically we’ll be out all those draft picks and players for maybe a few games played overall? It’s better just to let this work itself out, if he’s indicted and convicted welp bullet dodged for no cost. If he’s indicted and exonerated, he’ll have been on the exempt list, perhaps even forced to be cut by the Texans anyways and will be a free pickup to wherever he wants to go.
  2. It leaves it up to the commissioners, there is no if the person is charged or not. below is very very very broad but that’s not the commissioners exempt list. That’s the suspension list. The second paragraph is the exempt list. Which would do ABSOLUTELY nothing at this point for the NFL. The Texans are still paying him either way, the exempt list does NOT equal suspension in the first place it just can be used to mitigate suspension weeks once the player is officially suspended. So if they exempted him now, the Texans would still have to pay him, they know the Texans want to trade him now and he wants to be traded. If he’s exempted the least penalized person by the NFL would end up being Watson. Because Watson could offset those games to his suspension, and pay back the Texans for those games. It helps the Texans with trade value or trade in general to keep him off the list. Once he’s moved, I highly suspect we will see some movement. This way basically the NFL is hedging it’s bet. But to the original notion that “he can’t be put on the exempt list because he hasn’t been charged” is complete bullshit. The commissioner can exempt any time he wants for any reason he wants, there is no constraining text. Suspensions on the other hand, maybe it could be argued in front of an arbitrator but the below bolded text is very very very broad. “involving action taken against a player by the Commissioner for conduct detrimental to the integrity of, or public confidence in, the game of professional football (other than as described in Subsection (e) below)” “Players who are placed by the Commissioner on the Exempt list prior to the determination of discipline and any appeal therefrom under the Personal Conduct Policy will be paid while on the Commissioner Exempt list and credited for the regular and post-season games missed against any suspension ultimately imposed. Notwithstanding any other provision in this Agreement, if such a suspension is ultimately imposed, the player must promptly return and shall have no further right to any salary for the games for which he was paid while on the Commissioner Exempt list that were credited to the suspension (i.e., for a number of games no greater than the length of the suspension).”
  3. People have been put on the exempt list while under investigation or just because the NFL felt like it. Rapaport is just blowing smoke stir up drama.
  4. As fun as it might be to have Watson. Nobody should be trading for him. A grand is impaneled and with the amount of complaints that all of the don’t get a bill is slim to none. If even one of them get a bill the NFL will be stuck between a rock and a hard place with the exempt list. It’s much better to let that happen, make Houston cut him and then pick him up post charges.
  5. Ditto but I know there’s no way in hell cam is coming back here after how we did him.
  6. If they keep playing like they have the past 4 games they will easily drop down into the high teens in a few games here. Plus we are already 18th or something in rushing yards total, 12th in ypg. But if we have a few more games like the last couple weeks. Not good things.
  7. He should have hit the wide open Moore in the End Zone.
  8. Because they were the bait to get that third player in the end zone wide open. Which he was, but Sam decided to make a horrible decision. I mean look at Moore. Not a single person in 10 yards of him. On a completely blown coverage.
  9. When CMC returns they need to spell him. I think people are looking at things wrong when it comes to the run pass ratio. It wasn’t oh we ran the ball more earlier in the season. It was we literally gave CMC half the plays. That needs to stop. Let Chubba run 50% of the plays. Use CMC in the first and fourth quarters(honestly in the first and third quarters at this point). Don’t tax CMC so much blocking, don’t play him on short weeks. Chuba is basically a CMC light so they can mostly be used interchangeably on check down and run plays. And seriously we need a new S&C coach.
  10. I think Chuba will be a good NFL starter. His blocking and hands still needs work though. He definitely progressed yesterday after he went for the blitzing players knees though, he actually corrected and stood up a blitz later in the game.
  11. I don’t think Rhule has the ability to successful coach an NFL team right now. His system or “program” just aren’t suited to the professional environment. It’s more of a teaching/mentorship for young highschool kids making their leap into college. I just don’t think he has what it takes to adapt his system successfully to the pros. Also his in-game calling is the worst I’ve seen from an NFL head coach in a long time. I’d rather cut our losses now, than have to rebuild in 2 years again anyways. Sometimes all you need is a good coaching crew to produce the most from your talent. I mean look at Doug Pederson coming in after Chip Kelly.
  12. Congrats on being in the good Carolina professional sports team club!
  13. And than he said there’s no need to panic, either implying he’s panicking or that’s he’s not serious. He also didn’t sound pissed. He sounded lost.
  14. Canes writers break down the next four teams we face. Boston will be the big test to me. Especially if they come at us with their overly physical game. It seems like most teams have either let us or been incapable of shutting down our game so far. But basically it’s Toronto, Boston and a pair of scrubs for this home game stretch.
  15. Of those available? McCarthy easy. He Probably would have turned Cams career around.
