I legit think it’s a “hey” to our under performing/“bottom 6”/backup players “we are taking away half our cap space, it’s up to y’all to win it with some rooks and get us that spot, don’t lose.” Maybe he’s got a gentleman’s handshake with the Columbus coach? Who knows.
