12/30 Game Thread: Canes v. Habs- Puck Drop 7:00PM
Harbingers replied to Anybodyhome's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Two more Habs in the protocol today. Making their total 13… with 13 skaters supposedly able to go tonight. The habs beat reporters are claiming the NHL is refusing to call it off. As much as I want to see canes hockey forcing 13 skaters(or players, not sure which) to go is just ugh. I wouldn’t want the canes to do it so… If it is on I expect a lot of dirty play from the Habs to slow things down. CORRECTION: it may just be down 13. The beat writers tweet wasn’t clear. -
Knock on wood we get to see some canes hockey with a nearly full and healthy compliment of starters tonight. Idk if Andersen is eligible to return early since the US lowered quarantine time or if he’s still out until the first.

Matt Rhule says Darnold will start Sunday

I’m hoping, the Habs are down two more after last night but I believe they are up in Raleigh. Fingers crossed. Aho was on fire before the quarantine, I hope he keeps it up. -

If there is a new coach Cam is back at least through camp. If not Rhule is gonna roll with Darnold and PJ. That said we are definitely going to see cam Sunday. -
Two more Habs just hit the protocol list.

107? Players hit the protocol yesterday. -
Figured this would be a thread lock.

Ya, thanks, I figured since it was a Canadian team though they’d just call it but the Habs did take a charter straight to TB yesterday. So they should be play tonight and us Thursday, you know more positive tests are coming though. Since taxi squads are back they were able to call up instead of having to wait for the game day.

Could this team beat the 2001 or 2010 teams?

Cam here to post this exact thing. CRA has already done my work for me. -

60% of our roster should go to contenders. -
Cannot wait for some hockey. Let’s go.

Honestly I’d be down for Greg HC, Cam QB, Luke option DC, Player, over this poo show we have at this point. Get a fugging stalwart OC/DC in and amp the GM position. Follow the canes blueprint. It’s better than this garbage we have now. -
Robby Anderson: “We don’t want no fake fans”
Harbingers replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robby would leave after 3 games on a TOP SHELF hockey team with this attitude. You could be top of the league and you will still get boo’d if you suck on any given game day(if the refs haven’t made themselves known). -
5 Habs and a coach just hit the list this morning. Sounds doubtful we’ll be playing.

The only reason not to fire Rhule is money. Pure and simple.

Rhule always seems to make the jump in this third year. The issue I’ve always contended is that was college. His track record against top shelf college teams was poor at best. The difference I see here is he isn’t taking some floundering college team with no recruits and turning them around over two years with his program. His talent evaluation ceiling, at least that this point, seems to be where it was in college. His general coaching/scheme seems abysmal at the pro level. And he’s not playing generally worse teams 95% of the games. Last year there was a lot of leeway due to how things were handled surrounding the pandemic. This year it doesn’t seem like there has been any “on the field” improvements. I’d go so far as to say with all combined factors, this year was easily a major regression. I understand Tepper may have bought the three year pitch. As showcased by Teppers letter to the fans saying give us 2-3 years. I simply do no feel like Rhule can translate his college success to the pros at this point in his career. Who knows maybe he will soul search this off-season and Tepper will give him a third strike but the fans will have to be given a very large carrot for that to make any sense. Again, it’s comparing apples to oranges in a way, but in hockey a lot of time a premiere Stanley cup winning coach will be fired or resign mid season, simply because there is so much public pushback and the players simply need a different coach or voice behind the bench. It’s nothing against the current coach, it’s not speaking any less of them, it’s just sometimes they aren’t meshing with the situation. I think the only thing hold Tepper back currently is the fact he doesn’t think the team would do any better this year if Rhules assistants were promoted, that or he’d worry they’d all quit in solidarity with Rhule. After the season though will be a different story. -
What if that account was Tepper all along….?

What if Rhule hires NFL Coordinators and positions coaches?

Nah I’m good. He’s not gonna fire snow even if he completely redid the offense.
