Houston police opening investigation on Deshaun Watson
Asurfaholic replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
IMO this is the difference between a legit complaint of a sexual assault and blackmail. DW is innocent until proven guilty. How you like them apples, Sean Payton’s Vicodin? -
I agree - the entire thing reeks of habitual sexual contact during massages. But I don’t really see how any of it sticks when they aren’t willing to turn their evidence (sworn affidavits for starters) over to police- especially in the “forced oral sex” cases which I believe lands a rape charge. All 20 can’t be wrong, but if he was getting regular massages and one story comes out of a civil suit against Watson, it doesn’t seem too far fetched to imagine some women who regretted their own behavior during their own encounter to pile on and say they too were “traumatized.” In this game of numbers, of the 20 accusations of forced sexual contact, not a single one went to police. Not weird at all in your professional experience?
-
No. But each accusation needs to examined carefully because on the other end of every accusation is a person who deserves due process.
-
So #believe women without question? ever been on the lying end of a scorned woman before? Thank god my experience with that I was able to prove the lie because douche nozzles like some folks here just assume the woman is always right. Forget innocent until proven guilty. It’s mob rule and guilty until proven innocent. These women are bypassing the justice system and going straight for the money. That is very telling to me.
-
This is exactly my point. I’m just pointing things that seem strange to me. For all my latest focus on the lack of an actual police report, I also find it odd that Watson has the ire of so many women. Patterns of behavior are telling. 1 accuser with no substance for evidence is one thing. 30 is entirely another. Watson could be very good at grooming the possible victims to accept his behavior.
-
I do know someone very personally who was sexually abused. She went right to her loved ones, and they took it straight to the police. So don’t assume I have no place to speak. you are assuming the allegations are truthful. I prefer assume that they may or may not be. You are also speaking logically from the standpoint of a singular victims response mechanism. I think it’s unwise to ignore the greater pattern. I have not read of a single incident where Watson had threatened one of his alleged victims. You may be more versed in each allegation, so I invite you to correct me if there were threats involved, which would play a huge factor. The presence of a threat or the absence of one would not be the end all to explain the reason most stayed silent, but that would certainly go a long way to explain it. Is it fair to say it’s possible that maybe some sexual contact did happen, and when one accusation came out, others saw that they had an opportunity to jump on the money train? Is it possible each allegation was coached by the one constant in all of them- the sleazy attorney?
-
Well, if you don’t want to then that’s your choice. I respect that female victims may not always handle things in the most logically sound manner. It would be very unfair to judge one woman for her handling of a traumatic situation like that. But it’s also unfair to Watson to ignore that 3 women have accused him of forced oral sex, and all 3 of them basically had the same response- wait. I don’t know what Watson did, I wasn’t there, but I think it’s fair to question these strange coincidences. You don’t find it at all odd that all 3 of 3 women who were forced to perform oral sex, against their will, didn’t feel so traumatized to report it to some authority immediately? Does questioning this fact make me insensitive? I don’t think that this fact alone would absolve Watson of his patterns of questionable behavior. I think it’s fair to try to determine the credibility of the accusations as a whole.
-
Do you believe that 3/3 women who have accused him of forcing them to perform oral sex on him were all equally unwilling to leave and immediately contact law enforcement? That just doesn’t add up to me.

Ben was accused twice of sexual assault, once of rape. watson is more or less being accused of being naked for a massage. not defending him, but my gut says this is going nowhere because of no criminal accusations. Ben slipped through because the DA didn’t have enough evidence. That said, if we are comparing the nature of the accusations, Ben’s incidents were much more concerning.
-
Someone should have told that to Ben Roethlisberger.

I cycle different ones regularly, and I do like to try new masseuses. They aren’t all created equally, some are much better than others. Apples to oranges here, I’m not crossing state lines for a massage, and I think I’ve sampled most my available options and have settled on my favorites. Think I have 2 once monthly appointments, 1 twice monthly and the extra week I go to a small practice that does walk ins. Most of the good and legitimate business ones are booked out quite far so I keep my appointments. I don’t know if I can honestly draw a conclusion on someone’s motives for using as many different masseuses like Watson has. Could be a number of reasons.

I get weekly massages. If I could afford daily I would.

Don"t Expect Carolina to Trade Up for a QB.
Asurfaholic replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Didn’t your parents teach you that you will never be at the last best deal? This isn’t the end of ever finding a decent QB. The offseason isn’t near over, and some of us appreciate that the brass isn’t overpaying for a chance at something that could just as easily be as bad or worse than our current QB. I like this take- I’d rather us use that top 10 pick on whatever stud is available and build the team smart. -
The tank crowd is already starting. SMH. If we don’t add a veteran through FA or draft a starter, there’s plenty of reason to think that TB is starting this year. It would be the strongest option available unless something drastic happens between now and then. He did well last year, we had a fighting chance in almost every game we lost. A missed throw here and missed throw there gone the other way and we could have had an easy 3-4 more wins. he’s not terrible, he just wasn’t clutch. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him. Could we get a better QB? Absolutely, but is one going to be available without trading the entire future?

If I was going to to make a determination of whether Watson likely did do the things alleged, at this point with so many allegations, I’d have to say probably. One allegation is one thing, but when you can establish a pattern of behavior, that can be really hard to dismantle. But I am not yet convinced that these allegations really rise to a very alarming level of depravity. My basis for this thought is that I haven’t seen anything that really screams that there wasn’t some degree of consent between parties. It seems that Watson sought out people to massage a particular region of his body, and i think that if someone would be uncomfortable with that sort of massage then they would have made clear from the beginning. My gut says that these massages were conducted and the masseuses were mostly willing participants until they were weirded out by Watsons behavior and sexual nature of his requests. They then went on to be disappointed with their own decisions. Some of these allegations seem to explain part of the encounter, but leave off what they willingly did. To me, this would be key information in determining how much consent was given or implied. I think a case could be built from either side, and these allegations if nothing else point to a lack of sexual boundaries by Watson and he could probably go to church and clean up his mind a bit. At the same time, there are plenty of masseuses that would willing do exactly what he wants to have done, so I don’t really understand why he would target an unwilling participant, this leads me to believe that they may very well be conspiring to make a civil case for the monetary gain.

Does Stafford have 6-7 years? Sounds to me that he struggles with injuries.

All the arguments for a Broncos win are just emotional cries of desperation. We have played the toughest games of the season already. Beating seattle round 1 was the real challenge. The cardinals were made into cat food and the Broncos.... I really do feel sorry for them. It's going to be be a sad and depressing day in Denver. Panthers will end careers on a bad note. Panthers 48-12

Funchess!! My favorite player to watch this year. -
If panthers are up by a touchdown and face a 4th and 1 on their own side of the field, I sure hope that going for it is not even being considered. And I believe that panthers are much better suited to gain that yard. That is simply stupid coaching, and even my wife who doesn't understand what a 1st down is thought it was stupid.
-
I don't know about all that. Matt Ryan is probably only responsible for one of the team's turnover. The rest falls on his center or receiver. Other than that, the Falcons don't look terrible. The turnovers are the difference in this game for sure. Without them I see this game being a blowout- at least 21 points for Falcons at this point.
