That's the issue with buying a team to go "all in" for the SB. I expect the Bucs to have similar issues, but not as immediately since Brady sold his soul to the devil in 2001 to stop the aging process.

The question of Curtis. Tim Weaver wants to keep him.
shaqattaq replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
OK, let me throw in my 2 cents. I like Samuel a lot, but still think Moore is better. If it came down to Samuel versus Anderson, I'd go with Samuel, but Anderson's contract makes that not an option. Hopefully we can figure out a way to hold onto Samuel without sacrificing o line. How it will likely go down: https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/re-sign-or-wave-goodbye-wr-curtis-samuel -
La Canfora on Tepper's desire for Watson/franchise QB
shaqattaq replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree 100% with this statement, BUT, giving away our 2022 and 2023 first rounds picks as well makes it a lot harder to replace anyone. This still sounds too expensive for me. -
I remember being interested in Njoku in the draft a few years back, but haven't followed him. His stats aren't exactly earth shattering, and, IIRC, he was never much of a blocker. A change of scenery may help him out, but it's unlikely that he's the answer at TE. He is young, and should be cheap, so why the heck not? He's likely better than anyone we currently have.

Best scene in the movie. One of the best scenes in ANY sports movie. He's the anti-Marty.

Deliverance! (and Arthur Smith)

That arrow going through him was the 2nd worse poking in that movie. -
I don't blame anyone for getting their due. It's a short-lived career, and he's given us 4 good years for $4M. It's his turn to get paid.
-
The good thing about getting a deal in place now is that we could limit his cap hit this year with guaranteed money coming down the road instead of having to eat the $14.5M all at once. Not sure I agree with a decreasing cap, but if it does happen, we can fix that down the road.
-
He's been a workhorse for us the last 3 years (fug you Ron for benching him all of his rookie season), only missing a handful of snaps. And, IMO, been very good. I'd have no issue paying him $15-17M for the next 5 years, if he'd agree to it. FWIW, tag price would be $14.5M.

Guess what this guy is officially off the books!
shaqattaq replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
True. I think we'd have been better off just to roll with Allen and let the chips fall where they may. -
I actually think that the top 5 limit makes it more relevant for our situation since most of us seem to think that we would need to trade into the top 5 to guarantee one of the top 4 QB's. I know there was at least one thread devoted to that topic. I also get that the poster is tweaking the data to support his cause, it just so happens that it fits our situation perfectly.

That's Washington's problem now. We just need to continue drafting well and not do anything too stupid, and we'll be fine by 2022. -

I hear ya, BUT... you have to admit having that useless SOB off the books feels pretty good whether it solves our cap crap or not. baby steps. -
Naw man, they've just been trying to reach you regarding your car's warranty.

The MOST fugged up part is that this is exactly why he was fired the first time. Whatever his faults may be, and there were several, Marty was the reason Dave was having to shop in the bargain basement every year. What looks like a very solid 2020 draft will help, but Fitterer has his work cut out for him. -
Olsen definitely blocked better for Samuel. Ginn was never supposed to cut back inside, but Olsen whiffed.

If you watch the video Ricky posted, the way Smitty tells it is that Cully was short a WR and the punter hadn't arrived yet, so Harbaugh sent him over to run with the receivers. Culley basically told him t get his sorry ass back over to the JV team and leave the real WR's alone. I'm definitely paraphrasing that last part, but I guarantee that's how Smitty heard it.
