If the Steelers offer up that haul for Sanders... they're definitely smoking something!
-
Fair enough. I was referring to our "splash" moves: trading up for XL and Brooks, signing not 1 but 2 big time FA guards, even signing a "QB whisperer" as a head coach. Everything was done to make Bryce better.

100%!! Last year we focused completely on offense, and it made leaps, especially when Bryce settled in for the 2nd half of the season. We kept all those players and improved our RB stable this free agency! This year we focused almost entirely on D, specifically our run D. I expect it to jump to at least average, which would be awesome considering they are starting at dead frikin last. Our draft class from last year, however, doesn't exactly make me tingle. I know, I know..."traded away our first round pick, give them time to develop", but still. The 1 gem was Coker, a UDFA who I really like, but he ain't exactly Randy Moss. We have to do better! We can't afford to only build via Free agency.

Yeah,,,I keep forgetting about NIL. Times they are a changing.

I've been thinking the same thing all along. There is no sure thing pass rusher in this draft (maybe Carter, but he's not projected to be there at #8) but there is a LOT of them that could easily be day 1 starters for us. I'm not sure that talent drops very much from round 1 to round 2; especially if we trade up to late 30's early 40's range which I could see us doing. If we stay at #8, I can see us going offense. We have a damn good line, really good RB's (still draft one of each later), and we have Bryce. Get him a weapon. Whether that is Tmac, Golden, or Warren has already been thoroughly talked about, but I like Warren. I'm sure that you've already told us, but who do you want at 8. No trade backs.

Because on April 25th, he's a millionaire. Whether it's at #8, #18, or #28...he's a first rounder. I will never hate a man for getting his money.

We better not lose to the falcons for the next 7 years

You could count them on 1 hand for sure! And, as you point out, Julio was a damn good WR. -
If there was any question about where he'd play...try taking a shot every time D'Mo says "in the box".
-
BTW... I will refer to our GM only as "D'Mo" from this point forward! If TD can call him that, so can I.

The only other player, IMO, that competes for best-ever-Panther is Peppers, and I'm still pissed that he left the team for so long. Not that complicated, just Little Man Syndrome. I'm 6'4" 240 and little guys used to always stink-eye me when I'd go out like they had something to prove. I'm the most laid back SOB ever, but, without fail, some 5-9 guy would bow up at me at the bar. Smitty's had to work twice as hard to be that damned good, of course he has a chip on his shoulder.

[Bootleg Football] The 10 Offensive Gems of the 2025 NFL Draft
shaqattaq replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ay 55:45, EJ makes the bet argument I've heard yet against taking a TE or FS at # 8... you're handing them a 4 year, $24M ish contract - fully guaranteed. With OLB, WR, and O-line making so much money, you have to ask yourself if it is worth the investment when a TE or FS can be had for cheaper. He was talking about the RB from UNC, but the point is the same. -
[Bootleg Football] The 10 Offensive Gems of the 2025 NFL Draft

EJ mentions that really good RBs will still be there in the 4th, potential starters, so I'm all in on that plan. I just can't see spending a top 100 pick when we have 2 1000 yard rushers on the roster this year and invested a 2nd round pick last year on a potential stud that we still haven't seen play. Hell, I might slot in a RB for 1 of our early 5th round picks and let him develop this year and be insurance JUST IN CASE Brooks never fully heals (which I think he will). If neither work out as RB2, we can always get another 1 year rental for 2026. -
Meh, he told me that Mingo would be the next him! I'm not sure that I trust his opinion!

Tennessee Titans: Mike Green, DE, Marshall The Titans take a replacement for Harold Landry. Green has been a monster for the Thundering Herd this season, with a ton of big plays for the Marshall defense. In 2024, Green had 17 sacks with three forced fumbles, 81 tackles, and two passes batted. The 6-foot-4, 248-pounder is very fast and explosive off the edge. In 2023, Green had 43 tackles with 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Could be. Both players are good at batting down passes.

The more I ponder it, the more I think we go with Malaki Starks from Ga. He's a solid FS, who played 671 snaps last year in coverage (400 as FS and 271 at nickel). He's also 1 of the only round 1 talents we've formally visited with, Shemar Stewart and Jalon Walker being the other 2. We don't have a FS on the roster other than last year's UDFA. I think that there will be plenty of edges still there at 57.

Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract
shaqattaq replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is exactly what I'm talking about! Overview Feisty slot-only target who has maximized his talent and honed his craft. Restrepo is a route chef who reeks of urgency and plays much faster than the stopwatch is likely to time him. His footwork, leverage and burst allowed consistent separation from man coverage on the college level but contested catches await him on the next level. His instincts, blitz recognition and talent to scramble open when plays break down will make him a favorite of quarterbacks and play-callers. Subpar length and average measurables could create some hesitation for NFL evaluators but the play and football demeanor feel translatable as a future starting slot."
