For sure. He also knew there isn’t where his strength lie so he avoided it instead of not looking good. Probably a smart choice, but also a meh choice for being such a competitor. Would have been nice to see him throw and weigh 205 lbs at the same time, but I don’t think we ever will.

Would it be preferable if Young could just throw the ball with a flick of his wrist? Yes. Are there some doubts about his arm strength? Yes. Does it mean he won’t be a great quarterback? Not necessarily.

We don’t know because he was to scared to do testing at the combine

We don’t know if he can do it well because we haven’t seen him do it. Doesn’t mean he can’t (hint to anti-Stroud folks here ). My main concern is if they didn’t do it because of him being really short, if that is true it would limit our playbook quite a bit. But it might also just be the design of the Alabama offense regardless who’s at QB.

David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young

I’m close to fifty and still love reading fantasy books, it’s my go to. The Order of the Sanguines by James Rollins is the best I’ve read in a while. But I’m a Rollins fan in general. Still consider the Hobit an all timer. -
NFL insider Jordan Schultz on the #1 pick

He was so smart it kind of made people forget what an athletic freak he was. But it was the combination of the two that made him who he was. -
Which player will benefit the most in the 3-4 Defense

Brandon Smith is super interesting, could be a total boom or bust. If boom however, watch out! -

I have to pushback a bit on this one. Luke was an exceptional athlete with good height and weight just slightly below average. If there was a RAS type scoring for QB attributes Young would ace some of the mental stuff, but size, arm strength etc. would not score well at all. But I get what you are trying to do. -

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. However, so far 100% of all these reports are 100% based on what the reporter would do themselves, there is not an ounce of sourcing from inside the Panthers org. It is really annoying they they all paint it as something they’ve learned, when it is just made up. Even Mortenson admitted that that was his mock draft pick. -

I feel a bit bad for who goes second, the difference in going to Texans vs going to us is massive. -
I think they both had a similar injury in College.
-
I thought I read that Young holds the ball for 3 seconds, maybe I don’t remember correctly?

Stroud is my guy, best passer I’ve seen in a while. Would be a bit disappointed with Young, but I’ll come around eventually.

Pauline believes it's Stroud, but Reich wants AR

Appreciate it. That pick is fascinating for us, anything could happen. -
I would think playing style would be a huge factor. Josh Allen will run a lot more then Drew Brees and expose himself a lot more to injury. A lot if the bigger QBs do run a lot.
-
Thanks for sharing, really cool. Shows how close they really are. It is a matter of preference at this point.

I’m curious to why he would fall. I’ve heard he plays small for such a tall guy, but I don’t know. -

I’ve seen Quentin Johnson falling to the second round in a few drafts. Would he be worth trading up a few spots for if that’s the case? -

I agree here that Tua was injury prone in College, no doubt about it. I’m assuming the attempt was to find a comp for Young in the NFL, but clearly there is not one existing today as Young is a far outlier in terms of size for a QB. -

The reported playing weight of Young is ~185 and reported playing weight of Stroud is +220. Every player in the NFL is an injury risk due to the nature of the have. Stroud at +220 is more within the standard of current players while Young is an outlier. There are no guarantees that one will stay healthier than the other, but purely theoretical it would seem that Young would be at a higher risk, and hence the concerns have been raised by most pundits and our own head coach. -
He does some great breakdowns, but follows it with, never mind what I just showed you, this is how I feel.

These two videos have been great. Warner is raving about his ability to move in the pocket, read the defense, go through his progression, awareness of where to go with the ball etc. This shows why a lot of us are so high on him as our pick.

BJ Ojulari is scheduled to visit the #Panthers

If the right WR is there, take him. If not we should be able to get a starter at CB, DE/OLB or TE. Great position to be in.
