What Do You Think About Our Rookies Thus Far?
Martin replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really encouraging so far, like what I’ve seen from Legette and Coker, Wallace is very active and is already making the defensive calls, I’m high on Sanders, he just needs more time. Brooks is tbd, but he has a lot of potential -
Ian Thomas, this quote from him makes it even worse:
-
love to see that Coker is getting more snaps than Mingo. I thought so yesterday and here are the numbers. We need to keep Andy in there to help develop the young guys.
-
Agree with you. Also loved that Sanders got every yard he could out of his catches. Hopefully the young guys will continue to grow, makes it fun to watch the games and will help us greatly next year.
-
Yes, but what is Evero doing to help him?
-
He got the HC role 1-2 years too early, but that is what you have to do when a team is as bad as ours. That said, I like him benching Young, not being afraid playing young guys, some really good playcalling (ups and downs are expected for a young coach). I think he can become a good one, he seems smart, he’s a strong communicator etc. he just needs some time to settle in and gain experience, as well as updating the roster to fit what he’s looking for.

Here’s my take. Initially Tepper trusted the wrong people which led to Rhule, Rhule led to Fitt. Terrible start. Not sure if it was Rhule or Fitt, kept Fitt which was another massive mistake, leading to Young and Reich. Now we have Dan (still up in the air, but I’m hopeful) and Canales (I think he’ll be here for a long time, I think we found the right guy). Tepper wants to win, if you think otherwise you are plain wrong. He has just trusted and hired the wrong people. When will he get it right? Or has he finally done it? There are a lot of bad GMs and HCs out there. A lot of teams struggle with the same thing. It is baffling to watch all these moves across the league, and tbh, a lot of times it feels like the casual fan would do a better job. Just look at the Giants, Jets, Browns etc. 49ers, Detroit etc. were terrible for a long time. I’m hopeful Canales is our guy, if not it will take us a while to get there. This year is all about showing progress and improvement. If we do that, this was a successful year for me.

He’s a solid LT. Just leave him where he is.

I agree, very promising and exciting start for the young rookie

I thought the Dionte trade was really good, the MJ pickup at corner looks really good to me. Not sure what else to ask from our CBs when we have 0 pressure on the QB. A’Shawn Robinson looks good, Clowney at $10M a year is not bad etc. But it sounds like we look at it very differently. DB getting injured was a rough one that really sunk the D imo

Which FA signing is your biggest issue?
-
What about Wilson’s 13 tackles in 5 games stands out? Why is it a huge red flag for you?
-
I agree with Canales having a rough game, but it seems like the point of this thread was to bash Andy.

The Bears defense was ranked #2 against the pass, and ranked 3 on takeaways. This was always a very tough matchup for Dalton.

Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears Gameday Thread

What happened to Legette, I missed most of the first half -
Him coming back and playing at a high level with all that pressure will tell us a lot about him, and I think he will.

Love that Trevin Wallace will keep the green dot and communicate the play calls. I’m really high on his potential. This from Joe P is really funny: ”Say what? When Thompson and Josey Jewell (groin and hamstring) both left the Bengals’ game with injuries, it left rookie Trevin Wallace as the linebacker responsible for getting the scheme call from the sideline (via a helmet transmitter) and communicating it to the defense. That process was slowed a bit by Wallace’s south Georgia accent. Well, not just the accent. Woods said there were other contributing factors that made understanding Wallace difficult. “We gave him hell about that. Because not only does he have an accent — like me, I have a little bit of a lisp, I’m from the South and I used to wear Invisalign,” said Woods, a Louisiana native. “Trevin has an accent, and he wears Invisalign and he was tired and he was breathing hard. So that was tough. “But we talked about it, we joked about it. We were just like, ‘Trevin, you’ve gotta slow down a little bit.’ We didn’t miss any calls, but it was different.” Wallace will have time to work on getting the calls out more cleanly: With Jewell expected to miss at least this week, Woods said the third-round pick from Kentucky will continue to wear the “green dot” on his helmet.”

Do we attempt to extend Diontae this season?
Martin replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d love to sign him if we can, he puts a lot of stress on the opposing D. Also his skill set is very different from our other receivers. He drops a few too many passes, but I see him as a # 1 or 2 WR. -
This is the ideal scenario. A pass rusher in the first and then a developmental QB in the second. Hopefully Rams continue to struggle and we get a very high pick in the second round.

I never liked Prime, to me he’s a total narcissist that only cares about himself. I have no problem admitting to that. But what about the son? Seems like a legit player, but is he the same way or is he different from his dad? Can he lead a team of grown men in the NFL? Honest question here as I’m curious to see what people think.

A stud edge rusher would completely change our defense, even if everything else stays the same. There looks to be a few in the draft, so that is promising

Hate it for Shaq. Great guy, great leader, and he’s also played really well this year. Would love to see Trevin Wallace take over for the rest of the season, I think he has a lot of upside

I’m still leaning towards someone like Allar, i.e. someone young with all the tools but in need of seasoning, and letting him sit for at least one year.
