As a newer owner I would be interested to see how a pro day works etc. But I would not be part of the decision. You intentionally ignored that part before you grouped me with some major dirt bags.

I’m one of those guys. I think it is totally fine for them to go on these trips, if I was the owner I would have done the same thing. What is not ok is for them to have a big say in whom to pick, but that is a completely different thing.

Did you have the one for Burns as well. You accidentally posted Sweat twice?

The o-line has been underwhelming, and some of that falls on the coach. There are a lot of teams with missing and injured linemen and they seem to be able to coach around it, and so should we. So Campen needs to step it up. I have no problem with the fact that he was laughing at an angry fan. It has no correlation whatsoever to how he feels about the performance of himself or his group.

Agree. It was also his first offseason coming off a strong finish to his first year. I think he got a bit overconfident, he doesn’t strike me as a guy that will not work hard. I think he’ll get after it this offseason.

It is hard to know if that clip is truly representative of Frank’s first day as a CEO HC, but if it is, it was very encouraging to see.

Trade Burns for Jaylon Johnson and some picks
Martin replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would take that. -
He’s been close to 40% from 3 the last two years, so he will come around. But a disappointing start no doubt.

Question for the Burns pocket watchers...
Martin replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
It feels like Burns get handled by a single tackle or just a TE most of the time. Majority of the time when he has a splash play it is either a missed assignment where he comes free or just a RB blocking him. I rarely see double teams assigned to him. Would love to see some stats as I might be completely wrong. Great guy, great leader, high motor etc. But I keep wanting more from him. I thought the 3-4 would unlock his potential, but he’s been just ok so far. Again, just my opinion. -
Tommy Tremble has been a good development, he always had potential, hope to see more growth. Maybe we finally lucked into a #1 TE.

Burns draft classmate (edge rusher) inks new deal
Martin replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do I think it makes sense to pay Burns $30M? No. I’d that currently the market price? Pretty much. In the end this is an absolute failure of the front office. If you weren’t willing to pay him what the market is asking, you should have traded him. -

Gary has been really good the last three years, took him a while to get going. 9.5 Sachs in 2021, played 9 games in 2022 and got 6 sacks. 4.5 sacks so far this year in 7 games. And very good against the run -
Both him and Robinson made some plays. DJ is a big strong dude, improving every week. Not sure if he’ll turn out, but fun to watch as he hopefully develops.
-
DJ Johnson had a tackle for loss, how about that?

I have YouTube TV, how do I watch the Hornets? I don’t think Bally Sports is an option. Any suggestions are appreciated.

We kind of know they were happy with both of them as we originally tried to move up to spot 2, but realized it was the same cost as spot 1, so we did that instead.

Sure, Wilks maybe could have had the team in a better position. But going from bad to ok ish shouldn’t be the goal. The goal is to be great and I don’t think Wilks could deliver that. Clearly neither can Frank, but that doesn’t make Wilks a great option.

I thought Young’s last passing chart looked the best by far this season, showing some progress. Unless I remember it wrong.
-
I think Young is starting to come around, so I’m clinging on to some hope. Another good thing is that we should get 11 weeks with Brown as the OC. So there should be no doubt if he can do the job or not. If not we obviously need a brand new staff, but at least we would know.
-
Seriously, do y'all want a positive vibes only thread?
Martin replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
The biggest problem, like everywhere in society today, is the extreme positions. People who try to have a balanced view and discussions about the good and the bad gets drowned out immediately. E.g. Young is making progress is immediately met by “well his deep ball is terrible”. Both are true, but they are not mutually exclusive, and that seems to be the major struggle for a lot of people on this board. -
For Brown’s sake the timing is good. He’ll get an extra week to get ready. We will also learn if he’s good or not. If he is he will become the new HC as we can’t risk losing him. If he’s bad we will have a new offensive staff next year. Hopefully we’ll see a drastic improvement. Don’t forget that we actually look pretty good during the scripted part, so maybe the playbook is not that bad, but the play caller definitely is.

They sure do. Saleh took over another loaded defense, but doing good nonetheless. Impressed what Ryan has done with a less than good roster. I’m just saying that you could put a lot of DCs on the 49ers defense and they would look great.
-
I like Wilks, and he’s doing a good job, but every 49er DC over the last couple of years has been successful with that roster. It doesn’t say as much as one might think.

I think it was a very encouraging game, lots of positives. Now if we could only get Frank out of the way, or script the first 100 plays
