If an o-line player is BPA at 33 (Jackson Powers-Johnson is my top pick if available) I would take him without hesitation.

Breaking Down the Shrewed moves that Built the Carolina Panthers
Martin replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s one thing to do trades, but to bomb every pick you acquired in those trades is wild. I mean we have a full time group of people that spend 100% of their time scouting players. It is absolutely wild how it can be this bad. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We would be better off just using Dane Brugler draft guide. -
Agree, his attitude and defensive tenacity is exactly what this team needs.
-
Wow, a lot of anger there.
-
I would extend him as well. He’s never injured, plays a position where you can play a long time, he’s a very good player that (I think at least) wants to be here, he’s a team leader etc.
-
I like Steve, he seems like a great man without doubt. And I’m very happy for him. I was just anticipating the hype squad saying him being in the superbowl somehow makes him a great coach. The last couple of games have been really rough in the 49ers defense, despite being stacked with talent.
-
Steve is a great guy, but the 49ers defense has been significantly underperforming for a while now since he took over.
-
If play calling is what he loves, what a great spot he’s in. Dan can do all the leadership stuff and Ben can stay in his lab coming up with new stuff, and still get paid a ton. Good for him. But he should have handled it better imo.
-
If we trade Burns I can absolutely see us going after Higgins hard. Higgins should cost a bit less that Burns, so that would be one way to make room for him.
-
Yeah that’s my concern as well.
-
Yup, we’ve had enough guys who can win a contested catch in college but can’t get open in the NFL
-
When he has the time to fully step in to his throws and conditions are ideal, he can probably make most standard short to intermediate throws. But he has never had a good deep ball, not even in College. He will struggle to go beyond intermediate throws and that gives the defense somewhat of an advantage as they don’t really need to account for it. We will do everything we can to build on what he does well, but unfortunately that puts a ceiling to what we can achieve as a team. Btw, I would love to be wrong as I’m all about us having success. Team success is number one, and if Bryce is not that guy we need to move on to someone else the following year.

Essentially every owner in the NFL has weekly meetings with the GM and HC. It is so weird that people have an issue with that. The other points are legit if the owner imposes game day decisions (I do think this mostly is very exaggerated fan fiction) I don’t agree with it, but if I had Frank trying the same things every week with the same results, I probably would ask some questions about it and ask “have you thought about x y z”.
-
Haha, fair point, I didn’t think about that

Dan is not a great speaker, but he has a lot of fire and conviction. He is very different from Fitt in that regard. I mentioned before, but he was openly saying we currently suck, we don’t have the right players etc. I really liked what I heard from him.
-
Good, strong press conference. They both came across as very passionate, clear on what they need to and want to do. Dan went on (in a good way) about how we need a different mind set, different players etc. He more or less said we suck and we are soft right now. It was very refreshing that he called that out.

Ladd Mcconkey (sp?) seem to be one of the best at creating separation, and he has good speed as well. I’m intrigued.
-
It would be worth it for all the “he’s legit” jokes we could use
-
I’m far from an expert, so I rely heavily on what Dane Brugler says
-
Not sure Ben wants a HC role. Panthers last year and Washington this year were close to dream situations in many ways for an offensive coach.
-
I’m with you on Jackson Powers-Johnson, as of today he could be my choice at 33 as well. I really like Ladd McConkey as well, he knows how to get open, and he has enough speed.
-
I saw Brugler saying he is a bit overrated and belongs more in the third round due to sloppy route running etc.
-
He just doesn’t strike me as the disgruntled type. He’s super professional and focused. But obviously I don’t know for sure.
