Makes sense, he doesn’t strike me as a rah rah type of guy. And that is totally fine by me, there are so many ways to lead.

Interviews are done to get to know people, who are they as a person, can they lead and inspire others, how do the carry themselves, can they explain what they’ve done in the past and why etc. it is a very very important part of the evaluation.

That was really interesting. Didn’t realize Young drops that far back, that’s a tough one for any OT. Now the question is if he drops that far back to make it easier to see over the line?

If this is CJ when he had “a trash game” vs. Michigan I’m still in (did not watch the game, I’m purely looking at stats):

I found the wording really interesting “…Stroud leaves more to be desired from those evaluating him from afar...”. What does people say that have seen him close up with his teammates?
-
It is lying season, but I’m the snippets I’ve seen he sure come across as an slightly arrogant bro
-
Most physically gifted, no doubt. Most talented, why would that be? Stroud is the most natural thrower. Young is processing like a vet. It feels like everyone says most talented when they mean most physically gifted.

My concern is Young gravitating towards running around looking for the big play too much, you win in the nfl by taking what’s there and the occasional big play. I appreciate your perspective.
-
I’ve only seen a few games, but my feeling is that Young likes to run around and therefore leaves the pocket too early on many occasions, while Stroud hangs in there. What have you seen?

If you read beyond the headline it says durability is a concern, not height, so size is still a concern.

Here are some additional comments from John: It is a real thing, like it or not. Will it make or break (pun intended) the decision? Not sure, but it is a factor to include.

That’s fair. I think he is that guy and that’s why he’s my preferred QB.
-
If we take away some of what we know about him I’m assuming we would have a different opinion.
-
My opinion is that if you believe in your system and want a QB to mostly work within that system, Stroud is your guy. If you prioritize someone excelling and extending plays outside of the system you pick Young. Both players are very good at both, but Stroud has an edge within the system. Again, just my opinion.

I’m sure Reich will listen to input from the rest of the team. He hired people he respects for a reason. If he’s close between Stroud and Young, someone else might be able to add something he didn’t think of, and that might sway his opinion. At least that is how a good leader should do it, and I think he is one.
-
Or now maybe they are at the same level, or maybe he is still behind Stroud but the gap is closer, or he was way ahead and is now miles ahead, or…
-
That’s what I took away as well. They won’t even work out during their visits, it is all about the other important aspects you might not see as easily from only game tape.

I haven’t seen many Bama games, but this is my concern. He’s awesome at out of structure plays, but does he actually do so many of them because he isn’t taking what’s already there? That’s my impression from the limited games I’ve seen. And that’s one more reason why I’m in the Stroud camp.
-
Young didn’t have the traditional Alabama supporting cast this year, on the other hand the SEC defenses were far from great this year. Young is awesome to watch, but will he be able run around in the NFL? I’m not sure to be honest. Everyone is bigger and faster in the NFL. I hope he can, a fun player to watch. I believe the Stroud we saw in the Georgia game is the real Stroud, so he’s still my guy. But I absolutely see the appeal of Young.

Panthers to Send 11 Representatives to Ohio St Pro Day
Martin replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel Colts are a bit odd in general. Not sure what Ballard is up to.
