  1. I think Caldwell is a perfect mentor and advisor for Canales, I’m happy he’s staying.
  2. Very fair. In my mind I was thinking of how you build the front 4 vs a front 3 with OLBs. Very different type of players depending on what you do.
  3. The big question is if Canales likes a 3-4? If not I don’t see Evero staying. Also, if it is likely a 1 year thing as his contract expires next year, who would take over and run said 3-4 if he leaves? They might also with great together for all I know, but since we are in a rebuild stage, do you continue with pieces for a defense that might not be here long?
  4. The 49ers MVPs are Purdys run game, Josh Reynolds drops and Dan C not kicking FGs
  5. Canales seem to have a lot of good HC attributes. Ben might as well, but it is always a gamble.
  6. I hear you. And nobody is giving any guarantees that it will work, but they are doing all the right things.
  7. There was a discussion in another thread about not extending Tyrek. And this is why, they needed to let him go to build a more well rounded team overall.
  8. It is early in his career, but he hasn’t been that good playing from behind or missing one of his superstars around him. He’s been fortunate with a lot of dropped ints. He’s really really good in their system, but he’s the, relatively speaking, weak link of that offense.
  9. Hoping Ravens win so we can get the Tills thing finished
  10. You are brave/crazy to put “realities” and Undisputed together.
  11. They’ve hit on a few aces in the later rounds, but let’s not pretend like they draft great. They’ve plugged a lot of their holes in free agency.
  12. Agree. If people are complaining over this they are just complaining for the sake of complaining. Tepper has essentially done everything one could ask for this offseason. You can disagree with the choice of GM and HC, but from a selection process and restructuring of the org, he has been spot on.
  13. Based on what they did with Tyrek, it will be very interesting to see what happens with Burns. I would bet they won’t overpay him. It will be the first test of the new regime. If we’re building, I’d assume we will try to trade him for assets/draft picks, which is what I’d prefer as well. Sign Brown and Luvu, trade Burns.
  14. Yes, good for them to not be afraid to make a tough decision. They are looking at a long runway with Mahomes and are managing their roster and cap accordingly. I don’t see an issue here.
  15. Really like this. Sounds like a 180 from what we’ve done before. Building it the right way with patience.
  16. They hired an outside firm with a great reputation, has a small team including said firm, the new GM, the owners, the president of football and (I think) Jim Caldwell. They interviewed essentially everyone outside of Bill and Jim. How is that not a legitimate search with qualified candidates?
  17. I have no doubt that Young will improve, I mean how can he not. Unfortunately I don’t think he has close to what it takes to be a high end starter.
  18. My number one advice would be to get rid of Campen
  19. Agree with you, it shows it is expected to be a longer term fix. This is the same length Shanahan got with the (at the time lowly) 49ers.
  20. The hard part with Bryce is that we essentially have to completely break him down and re-build him. That is something you do with a late round pick, not the #1 pick. Still blows my mind the whole thing
  21. It’s a very standard org structure that a lot of teams use. So no big deal.
  22. Not sure why people say our process was wrong. We hired an outside firm (a very successful one at that) to lead our search. In addition we included our president of football, our owners and a football vet in Caldwell. Made 100% sense to me. We decided on a GM and he was a big part of the decision for the new HC. Everyone might not like the choices, but the process seemed very sound.
  23. Did they panic or was he already number one in their list?
