  1. I really think he could be. I took a look and he was a top recruit in the country, UGA brought him in, transferred, played great at UT but opted for the NFL early in hopes of being a higher pick instead of getting one of those NIL contracts. Looks like he had an injury and is young. Seems like outside forces (looking to support his loved ones) may have had him opt in earlier than expected. The gamble didn't pay off financially, but he's going to be HUNGRY to compete and be a good OL in the league. 2. That's where it got real fun--just made a thread
  3. Okay this was a cool surprise, bear with me. I thought this was going to be fun in respect to QBs, but it actually became even more fun regarding a certain 6th rounder of ours... Overall Notes Demarvin Leal was a top-10 pick in nearly every draft I've come across. Went Round 3 to Pittsburgh The 3 most consistent projected top-10 that landed were Neal, Stingley, and Thibodeaux The way-too-early 2022 NFL mock draft | Yardbarker 1. Rattler QB | 7. Howell QB | 8. Willis QB | 12. Corral QB | 13. Strong QB 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Way Too Early Edition | RSN (nbcsports.com) Here's where it got fun...the #7 overall pick? Cade Mays OG/T Tennessee 2022 NFL mock draft: Way-too-early 2-round projections (usatoday.com) Nothing too ridiculous outside of QBs and the consensus top dudes that fell due to injury. 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Way-too-early projections - The San Diego Union-Tribune (sandiegouniontribune.com) Wait, Cade Mays again?? #17 overall Trevor Sikkema's Way-To-Early 2022 Mock Draft - The Draft Network Cade mays aggaiiiin??? #10 overall So yeah, Mays.
  4. It is amazing how virtually every early 22' mock was some sort of combination of Rattler, Howell, Willis, Ridder, Slovis, Strong in the TOP 10-15 OVERALL. And then some random 5th-year senior from Pittsburgh ends up the only QB in the top-70 lol. Funny enough, they nailed a lot of the high picks elsewhere with the bulk consistently having Kayvon, Stingley, & Neal in the top-10. 5. Yeah, I imagine this will be Carson's last year there. Penny is a 1-year deal so they have the Spartan in waiting to run with whoever they pick next year. Two brand new tackles will have rookie speedbumps. Lock is just going to be launching jump ball bombs to Metcalf and Lockett half the time lol.
  6. Richardson and Levis have my eye as well. Those two along with Van Dyke and McCall could definitely have the catapult. We're talking size, speed, passers, a lot less red flags than this year's class. Haener is a wildcard for me. He's a bit shorter but he throws some absolute dimes and has led a lot of comeback wins.
  7. McKee is a bit unexpected. He needs to make a major leap even with his upside. 6'6 230, sure, but 15 tds and leading Stanford to what like 3-10 does not compute for a top prospect. Will be SUPER interested to see who pops from the Levis/Haener/McCall/Richardson/Van Dyke crowd.
  8. There's such a limited crop, this can't really be a general question. You have 2 realistic options (For the expected response: Cam is gone, get over him) Nick Foles Ryan Fitzpatrick Both would get no more than $2 mil. I don't see it hurting or really helping. I would personally rather have one of those two in the room with Matt over Sam Darnold but won't care either way. We just need to see if we found something or not with Matt and hopefully that can be done at some point this year like was done with Mills and Dak as two recent examples.
  9. For clarity, there's 8 of 32 starting QBs that were post-R1 with 1-3 with unsure futures. Derek Carr, Mills, Hurts, Cousins, Lock, & Brady (clear outlier) I'd say the Carr curve is still in effect. If your QB is better than Derek Carr, you're in a good spot. If not, you need to keep looking.
  10. Brugler & the SEA Athletic writer had reported before the draft that Carrol and Schneider are in on Lock and believe they're contending. Apparently it is true
  11. I wouldn't call it chicken. I imagine MANY first round graded guys for a handful of teams fall to the late 2nd and early 3rd. Team-to-team boards are all different and it's all done in tiers/blocks with varying prioritization of need and fit. YGM was reportedly a first rounder for a lot of teams, same with Chinn. It's a whole puzzle to unravel but guys fall between the cracks when teams are focused on filling needs and targeting specific players high and the teams who have them pegged high can't get a trade up deal done. Not many had QB as the need and/or didn't value these guys. But it doesn't equate to not having a late 1st, high 2nd round grade on them. Atlanta could have had a first on Ebiketie and Anderson. So maybe Ridder and Willis were in the next block on their boards. You just never know. But we do know the value was higher with those two which is interesting to say the least.
  12. Most likely later this week. Excited for the introductory conferences. Corral will be a fun watch.
  13. Something to consider is that teams were either pretty locked in on their in-house QBs or simply not in the spot to take one in round 2. It ended up being a stand-off to see who took a gamble on one first. I don't really know who outside of TEN, ATL, and maybe NO and SEA were really gunning for a QB after Pickett went. Maybe MIN and WAS were wildcards but otherwise, people were probably waiting for us to make some overpriced trade up. And if teams knew SEA and NO weren't really serious about landing a QB, then there wasn't much competition for any of them. So not much competition for those guys with Atlanta and Tennessee not even having a pressing need with Mariota and Tannehill. So, I see why they passed in round 2 given the talent pool and knowing others weren't really going to draft a one. So, it was a bit of a stand-off, us waiting for the 2nd to go and others waiting for us to trade up. We smartly held until Ridder & Willis went. People may think a 23' third is too much (Will Brinson) but we've got the rest of the draft intact, it wasn't some big multi-pick deal and considering the need, worth the gamble.
  14. It is official. We have it on the books. Poster named CPcavedweller on the carolinahuddle.com website did NOT like Malik Willis, and wants to remind others who visit the website. He is also putting his unyielding support behind Grayson McCall to become a great QB.
  15. And another thing was Daquan fell off a cliff last year and was a pretty big disappointment. He was kind of a one-off invisible man out there for us. Interior DL is a need.
  16. It's time for YGM to make a big step up. His advanced stats have shown him to be really effective against the run and consistently generate pressure. He should be at the point where he can become more of a 3-down guy. This year is pretty critical for him and Brown. Rhule's first draft investments need to start looking like vets.
  17. Best thing about being 32, there's no 33. Only one way to go from here boys.
  18. You can pretty much mark Elf and Wilson off the list (that's 13.5 mil with not a lot of dead cap) Robbie would be 21 mil savings, 9 mil dead cap (that's + another 11 mil) Let's be conservative and say we rollover $12 mil I also like Haynes but he's a virtually no dead cap next season, that's $3.5 mil savings cut That's already $40 mil obvious non-Sal magic savings (and then the big looming question if we take the "out" on CMC's contract) Cap has become so fluid and strategic, they'll figure it out.
  19. Something this also tells me is that these quarterbacks could have very likely had early to mid 2nd round grades by a lot of teams and their falls were entirely situational. There were so many not needing to prioritize QB in the second combined with the fact the QB needy ones like ours didn't want to overpay in a trade up. A lot of teams finally had their first draft pick come round 2 and didn't need to get a QB. The Falcons, Titans and Rhules' Team stayed patient. And the rumor that the Seahawks don't see a problem with their QB room of Lock & Geno was true (Athletic/Brugler's SEA intel was correctomundo)
  20. League approves rollovers the day after the final regular season games so it will be fully dependent on who becomes available/how the cut season shakes out. But yep, if no Jimmy or Baker, we'll likely be looking at a lot of rollover.
  21. Would be the most optimal. Can realistically get approved to roll $10-12 mil, not the whole ~24ish mil we'll have post-draft signings. So, we do still have 10-15 mil to work with (they'll probably want a slight buffer) Already set to have nearly $30 mil to spend and much less dead cap next year, could be looking at $40+ mil 2023 with Moore already re-signed. Burns' contract will be a good chunk.
  22. Chinn and Xavier Woods are probably set for our safety spots. But with our DB heavy packages, could use another to consistently have out there over the whole Hartsfield/Franklin/Chandler/Robinson crew. I do like those 4 but could use upgrades. DL could and always should get added. A DT to compete with Roy and Nixon would be good. And I actually want a WR. Can’t trust Robbie and Marshall wasn’t good enough for enough snaps last year. The cap room at the least gives us the ability to eat Robbie’s dead money and just release him if we can’t get a trade. Would think we can get an2023 6th for him or something but if not..cut. And they’ll be guys to sign come the cuts to 53.
  23. Saying his hands will primarily be in the dirt?
