  1. He still has quite a zip and has always been able to launch rockets. Crazy to think he's only a year older than Cam. Been steady at ~65% with throwing a lot of bombs to Golladay and Jones. It is pretty damn interesting to consider how he would do with a guy like CMC on his team. He's never had that before.
  2. I agree that pending any major splash by us, we're looking at Trey Lance or Matt Stafford. I prefer Lance. 1. Watson 2. Wilson 3. Fields 4. Lance 5. Stafford 6. Load up elsewhere this year/not worth an oversell (OT, OG, C, MLB, TE, CB, DT)
  3. This hearkens back to the intense Lees-McRae v. Oregon debate
  4. Even so, the wildcard is Lance. How high he's viewed by others, how we view him, the top-3 are gone. I'd find it hard to see otherwise and Lance is the question mark. Teams need to build to beat teams like KC. That means interior DL, a solid OL and an agile down field assassin at QB. Lance's upside is too enticing, even more than Fields and Wilson in that regard. Even if it's not us, I see a team falling for him. Jones is where there's a drop in upside in a major way.
  5. I'd like to think Fields or Wilson (maybe Lance) are the primary targets if Watson isn't falling into place. That's fine, I don't mind trading up for a pick. However, if we don't land a draft trade up, the top 4 are gone (Trevor, Fields, Wilson, Lance) and we're staring at either a Mac Jones or trading for Matt Stafford, I would very much rather take a gander down this route: Not 2021, but use a future 1st or mid-round package on Stafford. We should not mortgage this year's pick because it is simply more valuable than he is. And I don't like the idea of the Lions' sweetening it w/a 2nd/3rd to help out, I'd rather keep that #8 for other reasons. What is that other reason? Simply put: If we are serious about Matt, we should look at a 2021 trade down for a mid-first, future first, & 3rd/4th rounder. I'm looking at the Dolphins, Patriots, Cardinals, before there's a tier drop. We gain draft picks to offset a trade, get Matt Stafford (via 2022 pick[s]), and could easily still draft one in 2022 if all goes to sh*t with at least (1) first rounder. Furthermore, we are able to use a mid-2021 on a very good OL talent which would be in range for the 2nd or 3rd one off the board. Get more picks, maybe take a gamble on a backup mid-rounds. I know, easier said than done, but I think that's the strategy we need to look at if we're not aggressively trading up in the draft or getting Watson. We are and were never getting Sewell and we are not getting Fields or Wilson barring a trade up so I think we need to be very smart with how we do this. This Stafford talk is ballooning and yeah, it's another QB thread, but I wanted one focused on a trade down scenario and not losing #8 for him. That is just not smart, no matter how the QB market looks this year. I'll leave figuring out the cap of it all to Fit.
  6. I'd rather mortgage a future pick to move up from 8 than waste 8 on Stafford. I think his realistic value is a 2nd 2021, 3rd 2022, & maybe a player or late round pick. No way a first but if they want one, give them 22 or 23 but not much else.
  7. I'm going to skip Sewell bc that is expected to be mentioned in here more than a handful. Rashawn Slater & Jalen Mayfield are the OTs to talk about. Also--cue the linebacker jokes but Parsons is an elite talent and we'd be very lucky to land him if no QB. But my biggest thing--I don't think it's a pressing need but both Chase & Devonta Smith are special talents. They have the Jefferson, Beckham type feel to them with the aggressiveness towards the ball they have. It's like the ball becomes magnetized midair to their spots on the field and it doesn't matter what the defender is doing. They have such a good combination of route running, awareness and quickness.
  8. This is a fun and tough question. Good thread. I'll go with Chris Jones (KC) and Devin White (TB)
  9. A 2022 1st? It would allow us to likely grab Rashawn Slater LT at 8. It's a decent price. Not the most dream inducing route but would put us in a competitive spot and we wouldn't have to give up any young players. If the gamble doesn't pull through then we're drafting a QB in 2023. The window if he's legit is probably until 2024/2025
  10. Starting to have legit buzz now to land him, we're not just another fanbase postulating and spouting our dream trades. The plot thickens!
  11. I believe it to be true though one could say the last 2 years had a very nice tier 2. That tier 2 range is the one that can fluctuate, sometimes it can go deep into the 3rd, sometimes it drops late 2nd/early 3.
  12. Valid points regarding Houston's potential returns but I think the huddle is undervaluing Shaq Thompson who I think is a perfect trade piece and could fit really well in their 3-4 base w/4-3 packages as an ILB. They've also needed a stable LB for some time now. He's not a superstar but there's a lot of teams that he could very much help. My ideal package (cue the madden jokes) would be something along the lines of: 2021 1st/8th overall + 2021 3rd + 2022 1st + 2024 1st + CMC + Shaq Thompson. You do 3 1sts to outbid the Jets and teams higher in the draft. That also evens out the cap differential and then we cut Bridgwater after June 1st. $15 mil dead cash but we'll get like 5 mil in space, then we'd have picks in rd 2, 4, 5, 6, 6 comp at a minimum to look at OL, CB, & RB. On Houston's end, they can cut David Johnson this offseason and I don't think they'd mind CMC on offense and Shaq on defense to fit with maybe Trey Lance or maybe they hold out for Howell with all their new capital. With Short & Weatherly cut, we could tag Moton and have some room to sign a vet or two ~1-2 year deals 1-2.5m per year. Then we bank on Roy & Kerr growing into their roles and Jackson, Pride, & Elder again in the back with maybe a new draftee. My overall objective would be keeping either our 2022 or 2023 1st in a Watson trade. Just one of those two. It's A LOT of assets but maybe, just maybe...
  13. Whether it happens or not, and whether word gets out or not, I think this team will make a run at Watson. If it doesn't actualize/he stays/goes elsewhere, we're going after a top-3 QB in the draft. I just think we'll be one of the, if not the hungriest team for a QB this offseason. Teams like ATL, SF, DET, DEN, etc. may be flirting with the idea, but I think we are really gunning for a guy to run this offense. It's been quite some time since we've seen good QB and OL play. They want to change that.
  14. I make it clear I'm just asking about the names and not endorsing nor want them in the OP. Just trying to gauge who's perceived as "done" versus just not with the right team.
  15. Okay so there's chatter about Watson up the wazoo. Draft wise, we've had a lot of fun talk about Wilson, Fields, & Lance. Some promising dudes. Now there's a bit of speculation about Stafford per reports that we're sniffing around. Now my question is that if we're being aggressive and asking who's potentially on the market, I'm a bit curious to the younger QBs that have looked good to even great in the past few years that sputtered in less than ideal fashions: Jimmy Garrapolo Jared Goff Carson Wentz Sam Darnold Furthermore, another guy that's gotten a bit lost in the weeds is the anticipated backup to Trevor Lawrence. The stash. Gardner Minshew. If we performed like he did with a Jags team, I'm actually quite interested to know how he'd perform around a better squad. Are any of these guys salvageable? Could any still have pretty good careers? I mean, more than just one did start in conference title games and are all on the younger side. Just curious, not backing any of them up. I'm not a huge fan but maybe there's someone here to test out.
  16. So he's coached the two hottest QB trade names in both Watson & Stafford. Yeah peeps, we're getting a new QB and I don't see Teddy on the roster next year whether he goes via release, trade, whatnot
  17. The interesting thing for Houston is that cutting David Johnson should open up $7 mil for them (factoring in dead cap at $2m) My untouchables would be Burns, Chinn, DJ, & Brown. They are the key parts of position groups that thread together the new regime. You have to almost open up the convo with what picks we're willing to give up, tell them who's on the table and play some hardball. If they ask for CMC, then maybe we consider it. I dunno
  18. @ZodMaybe look at a Hornets Dark Theme
  19. I would be a huge fan. Also a fan of trading up to #5 CIN to get Wilson. If Sewell isn't there for them, I'd want to move up and make sure we secure our guy. That's a way more digestible trade up that's less talked about.
  20. One playoff appearance, one winning season together in 6 years right? Go get 'em WFT! Ron Rivera, Marty Hurney, Taylor Heinicke...good luck Washington.
  21. They need a LB. Cunningham is meh, they've been wanting a good one for a while. Don't know if Shaq fits their scheme but I could see him as a 3-4 ILB. Maybe I'm cray though. Don't know if they'd want 2 huge RB contracts after trading for Johnson last year but you never know. Defensive line, especially if they're shipping Watt per rumors. Could we package Short and pretend he's still good?
  22. #8 2021, 3-2021, 1-2022 to start the convo and tell them all but Chinn, Brown, DJ & Burns are on the table.
  23. Never knew you overcame it. Your ass has been kissed. Props. edit*Also, kinda of sh*t comment on my end so apologies and respect brother.
