Welp.. Levis, Hooker or McKee come on down.

We can still easily lose all but 1 or 2 more games and land the 1st pick. We’re definitely top-5. And it’s pretty obvious we’re taking a QB. So let’s not all get ruffled. Fun win today -
I’m pretty confident there’s a dude with like 3-4 accounts that pimps these stupid ideas and QB rankings. Same that kept saying Aqeel Glass is some future HOFer last year. Shouting in an empty room.
-
He had a slow start/seemed a bit off but he responded and showed in the second half. Really don’t understand the pushback here at all. Threads needles and is super quick with his progressions. I don’t see any red flags like you typically do with others. The OSU offense definitely handicaps QBs but you have to be able to see through it. Fields was for example a way slow processor and has a 1 second mental delay after the snap and it showed in school. It’s also why many NFL scouting rooms stayed away from him. Simply not the case with Stroud.
-
This whole push against the top 2023 QBs this week is reactive and stupid. Corral looked like crap and has proven to be fragile as hell. We have no QB.
-
Anderson is not some generational talent. I expect a small faction of doing this and then trading up for a QB, I prefer just getting the best QB prospect possible
-
With how things are shaking out in NO, the Eagles pick from them is looking pretty juicy. Def a top-12. buuut I’d need that, and another first, and some more to even consider. Burns is what teams in this league want most. No way in hell is it less than 2 firsts that aren’t bottom of the 1st.
-
So now with the microscope squarely on 2023 QBs, I anticipate a lot of reactive takes today no matter the results

Stroud's placement is elite, there is no disputing that, WRs open or not, his ball placement is ridiculous. Anyone saying otherwise is just not being honest or not watching OSU games. It is possible to parse out the skill even in a relatively handicapped offense. Not trying to rely too much on O'Sullivan but his videos show the plays you're looking for...good lord look at the fly route at the :50 mark. He breaks it down as well quite well. Here's also a new upload that breaks down Bryce v. Stroud I'd just advise those who have only watched highlights so far to tune into an OSU game.
-
That's what I've seen with him. NFL Elite placement and he's not running or bailing. Also super quick with his progressions. Both things Fields absolutely did not have. Field's has a great downfield pass but he didn't thread the needle the way Stroud does. And he went (still does) go into slow-mo through his reads. It's so slow, you rarely see him going past his first guy this year in Chicago because the D picks it all up faster than he can process.

We pretty much have to take a RB on day 2 in the draft, right?
davos replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Best teams in football: Eagles - Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell Bills - Devin Singletary, Zach Moss, James Cook Vikings - Dalvin Cook Chiefs - CEH, Pacheco, McKinnon Chargers - Austin Ekeler Ravens - Dobbins Bengals - Mixon -- A handful+ of 2nd rounders, only 1st rounder is CEH who has been teetering on bust territory. I'd take a stab at one in the mid rounds. Don't mind the double dip strategy, maybe a 3rd & 5th type deal. But with our 2nds--I'm thinking WR, DL. -
Levis is a guy that has been on a flat plane so far this season. He's doing nothing to really deter scouts but nothing to rocket up as QB1. He's got mad potential, mechanics are there, arm, athleticism, attitude, grit, etc....but you watch his games and I'm like waiting for him to really show "it". And it just seems so flat. Then you take a step back, assess, see his overall makeup and get hyped. It's kind of a Daniel Jones feel for me and I just don't know. Makes me more nervous than Young honestly but I'm fluctuating back and forth. Stroud really shows a lot and doesn't have the physical question marks. The only thing is the Ryan Day system if fluid year to year and is tailored to the QB. So it's a different offense than what Fields had. Thing is Stroud's ball placement is elite. Not college elite, but just NFL elite. His arm is probably a tier below the grand slam dudes like Allen and Pat, but he's just got the most well rounded game in the class.

Bryce had 5-7 moments in the TEN game that were just pure QB awesomeness. So many of these college QBs are running with spread or heavily tailored offenses that easily open things up for receivers. Easy curls, screens, quick throws to guys in the flat. Bryce has his fair share...but soooo many college guys aren't used to hitting good throws in tight windows that lead receivers. You just rarely see it anymore out of these kids. The talent of creating open balls through anticipation and timing is a lost art due to these new offenses. Scheming has handicapped QBs to the point where they view the tough throws as things to avoid. Bama doesn't need to do this with Young, he doesn't have the college system handicapping as heavy as guys like Fields, Mac, etc. had that honestly clouded their strengths and weaknesses. They really let Young go out there and be himself which is cool. He's also a righty that rolls left and can throw it similar in that fashion to Rodgers' go-to move (Cousins does this well too, Zach Wilson can do it in his shorts at a pro day). He maintains balance and his power isn't compromised which is pretty dope. There's just so much to like him if you're looking at the play itself. For me, he passes the "can't quite place it but he has it" type test.

That 5 game stretch where Allen pulled his best Kevin Kolb impression was quite the tease. We thought we had found something for a brief moment in time. Fast forward 4 years and ~6 QBs...and here we are haha
-
Oh I by no means want to downplay his impact. We constructed an entire NFL offense around him since 2018 and that first year w/Cam was a bit of a transition w/him not quite hitting a stride yet. It was just a bit of a miss with him overall. Anytime he was out this team didn't know what to do. That year with Kyle Allen was his peak/bloom and we never really figured out a competent offense around CMC. Just felt forced with no success which sucks. Could've had a really cool offense around him if we did this right and sooner.
-
Exactly. It's tough seeing him go, sure, but 27 is the proverbial cliff for the modern RB. A few are extended a handful of years after to maybe 29/30 but 27 has notoriously been right when these guys who are overused bellcows start to fade. We were 28-36 with CMC and never won a playoff game while he was here.
-
For games played with CMC, we were 28-36. What a lost era of nothing for him here. Not as much of a missed opportunity as TD/Cam/Luke/Greg, but still...

People need some "How not to be an abrasive dingus 101" class

I mean I’m just saying the timing is good, not that we’ll be able to perfectly execute it. This upcoming HC-QB combo is critical.

Burns is probably going to be traded right?

Oh jimmers mccricket sauce, he’s only on his 4th year. I was mistaken -

But a DE tag is so pricey that you might as well workout an extension that is backloaded and has a high bonus. So we pretty much need to be negotiating with him now if we want him here. -

He’s on his fifth year option this season so if we don’t get an extension or trade done by the deadline, the only leverage we have is a tag. -
This can get broken down fairly easily: Draft wise… Notable 2022 QBs: Pickett, Zappe, Willis - AFC 2021: Lawrence, Wilson, Jones -AFC, Fields and Lance - NFC (and smell like busts) 2020: Burrow, Tua, Herbert - AFC, Hurts NFC NFC QBs: Hurts, Dak, Kyler, Kirk, Stafford (fading fast), Rodgers (to retire), D Jones, Brady (to retire), Mariota?, , Wentz lol, Goff, Geno?…it is BARREN Honestly no wonder why the well coached Seahawks and G-men are where they are right now. That being said—If we hit at the top of the draft, Brady and Rodgers inevitably retire, the NFC becomes absolutely wide freaking open. Rhule didn’t work out, but this upcoming hire and timing is absolutely perfect to hit with an offensive minded forward thinking HC and QB of his choosing at the top of the draft.

Well I’m certainly entertained by the trainwreck that has been this year. Hopefully we keep the craziness up as long as we can…before all we got left is a bad product and McAdoo jerking off in his booth.
