  1. Not really a good joke, but who's counting
  2. Luuvu is on the podium, have definitely grown preferential to him. Definitely outplayed guys like Carter, excited to see him through this season and how he stacks out with the rest. Any word on Littleton? Has he made any appearances or anything really?
  3. Entirely misleading article title from crap publication. *He regrets the decision being based on not having to compete for a spot. Likes having to earn it, thriving off competition.
  4. Maybe we roll with what we ended last year with---PJ Walker, Abdullah, Zylstra & Ian Thomas. That's the real squad right there.
  5. There will definitely be photos incoming if that's the case. Igo almost shelfing CMC would be hilarious.
  6. and over, and over, and over like a record, right round
  7. Darnold Derping Derps out Der. Derpity derp.
  8. NFL Draft: Round-by-Round QB Study (1994-2016) | Football Outsiders It's a mix. You have to roll with what's working, sometimes those guys can be ready sooner than later, others take time, and MOST others it's apparent they aren't NFL caliber--the Hackenbergs, David Greenes, Clausen, Griers of the world. It is made EXTREMELY apparent in camp and preseason if a guy is clicking with NFL speed and mentality or not. It was pretty damn clear with Jimmy & Grier and those hype trains fizzled very quickly once seen by fans on the field. The good examples (bolded SB winners): Kordell, Plummer, Brees, Derek Carr, Kaep, Dak, Wilson, Cousins, Mills, Jimmy G, Foles, Schaub (early career)--there are plenty of examples of moderate to Super Bowl Day-2 success. 3 super bowl winning QBs, 2 SB losing QBs were Day-2 picks since 2010. Out of the winners, that is excluding Brady (Day 3) who takes up 4 of those. The rest were the Mannings (1-1), Flacco (1-18), Rodgers (1-24), Stafford (1-1), & Mahomes (1-1). To make my own counter argument, if you open it up and look at all 4 QBs in champ games, then it gets obvious to prefer taking a QB in the top-20. That's not me saying, "well let's just throw Corral in unseen", but it shouldn't be black and white, well Grier sucked, don't rush this kid on. It's entirely situational, team/supporting cast dependent and based on the individual. Come the season, if he seems to have the locker room and playbook and let's say Baker is shaky, let's kick the tires on him.
  9. First day of real practice. Football is back. I'll be so giddy if we found ourselves a Russ type situation. Those are one in a hundred but do happen. Kirk, Russ, Mills, Dak. Maybe he can sling it and win over the locker room, I don't think it's as long of a shot come week 6-7ish if Baker isn't working. Not saying I want that to happen, just want wins...and a new coach.
  10. My big issue is Snow's unit as a whole last year lacked stamina. With how Snow has deployed these guys, you really need 2 all-around LBs you can leave out there consistently and a front with at least (3) 3-down linemen that can get pressure without blitzing. This is mainly because he leaves so many DBs out there with his gimmicky 3-3-5 & 4-2-5 disguised alignments. DBs mostly 2 hybrids safeties (dependent on offense), 2 corners, & 1 free safety. We even played something like 10%+ of 3-2-6 which got Taylor on the field. Last year, we had Chinn & Burris as the primary safeties, 2-3 of Gilmore/Jackson/Bouye/Hendo/Taylor (injury dependent), & Hartsfield starting consistently in these weird packages. We played Hartsfield a lot... If they're not balanced with a stout line that pushes the OL backwards, we're in trouble and it's what we saw. We spent so much time disguising looks with DBs and have these odd formations where sure, Reddick could take advantage, but it was a very stat padding defense that didn't have consistency. Jones DT was a vet bust for us and was a big part of it. It seemed he really operated on his own and didn't help Brown out much (who had his own issues). Burns wasn't good enough against the run. Our best statistical downs were with YGM and Fox in the lineup in more tradition 4-3 alignments. Our DBs made plays/breakups to swing momentum, had good stops, but when a team needed to grind it out against us, using bunch formations, play action, and tight-ends, we got destroyed. And then once the DBs were tired, they could take the top off. Best guess, for Snow's 2022 sub-packages (that is really 80% of our defense) our main DBs this year will be S-Chinn, Burris CB-Horn, Jackson, Hendo, Taylor FS-Woods Likely will take Burris out on more nickel & base looks and have Chinn & Woods at the safety spots. Bring in Taylor or Henderson more for those packages. Thing I still don't like is we have an underachieving Littleton, Shaq (who's slightly above average), Luuvu, & Wilson TBD as our LBs and none really give me any confidence to control the field. Especially when they're behind Brown, Roy/Hoskins/Nixon, Burns, Haynes, & YGM. LB & DL will be our next big needs coming out of this season methinks. We also have a crew that's personnel wise will need to change a lot for a new coach so I anticipate a LOT of defensive turnover if this is Rhule/Snow's last year.
  11. Modernizing doesn't have to be a continuous process every few years, although you're right that orgs with weird owners and poor marketing depts. make the mistake of constantly revamping. Modernizing (for lack of better term) can also be just a single point in time where you take a chance at very subtle, refined updates. A uniform revision, tweaks. Just like we did once. Your examples had rather ambitious splashes changing something like their pattern, striping, helmet schemes, etc. Example being the gold/black Jaguars helmet thing. I mean, they've updated upwards 5-6 times and we have the same lifespan as a team. All we've done (which I respect) is revise the logo with smoother fillet edging and simplified it and swapped colors on the jerseys with some super minor changes. That's really it since 94 released the unis. I see the Bills, Bengals, Falcons, & Giants as examples of what we've done and how we could tweak things. The piss poor design concepts everywhere online also give the whole process a bad aura (not saying mine is anything special) but I think simplifying and refining is totally fine. 4 colors is just excessive, and keeping something longer doesn't always equate to timelessness. Timelessness needs a certain balance of minimal and proper design to work. 4 colors and one being sparkly silver is simply not timeless and it would be appropriate to finally get a nice refinement going. We always have these to wear or come back to.
  12. The funny thing is I can't find a fan concept online that's the simple, refined look. This is all they need to do (quick psd chop up):
  13. Love the simplified two-toned approach. Only makes sense to move towards that on the jerseys, the silver & white is too offsetting from the new pretty dope helmet. Would love for the jersey to just have a single tone for the numbers and shoulder stipe. It would work with this super well and that's likely how we'll modernize the jersey (hopefully soon)
  14. Apparently we’ve been trying to since the draft.
  15. Not what I said Its not his “style”, it’s his actions. And he’s no world beater, would not be losing much. And a guy that creates conflicts out of nothing, thin air, yeah get him out. He’s not some irreplaceable option.
  16. I don’t believe I’ve seen such an ineffective player cause such a continuous distraction whether it’s a facepalm, head-scratch worthy, or just downright weird toxic behavior. He carries himself like an absolute imbecile, continuously incoherent, and can’t manage to just shut up. If it was true we tried moving him a few times this offseason, I’d like to see us straight up cut him before the season starts. If he isn’t worth anything to anyone else, and only causing distractions when we have 2 new QBs (one of which he has this weirdness with already) it’s time to go. I don’t want this guy influencing TMJ, Shi, Corral, anyone. Get him out of here. It shouldn’t take to the end of Rhule’s tenure. Again, it’s his final year just like Darnold. They’re on the books no matter what. I say just cut them both, get some new energy in the QB and WR rooms if you want to have this offense reset with McAdoo and Baker.
  17. Robbie is a straight up embarrassing baffoon. I really wish we just cut him and Darnold at this point. We’re paying them no matter what, question being, do you want them in the locker room and field or not this year? I vote not. Would rather just roll the dice with the rest and see what they have. That’s the formula for a lot of squads. Baker/Corral Moore/TMJ/Higgins/Zylstra/Shi/Roberts Would be nice to maybe ditch Robbie and see who gets cut come preseason wk 2. WR group is looking mighty thin if TMJ and Shi aren’t working out.
  18. Random observation to add: About a 15% of Bakers NFL TDs have been to Rashard Higgins who may not be a great blocking WR, but has been a fairly reliable 3rd option that can play X. And we signed him earlier this offseason. He was also one of the guys on the Browns who was right with Baker on and off the field. They’ve got chemistry rather than whatever we saw with Robbie POS and Darnold. He’s got a lot better chance to catch on than the David Moores and DJ Hacketts of the world. I’ve always liked him, he can get 6ers and be a reliable #3. We just REALLY need good complimentary weapons outside of DJ and CMC—have to be able to spread defenses thin. It makes 3-4 guys critical to have an impact: TMJ (2nd rd) Higgins (FA) Thomas (4th rd)/Tremble (3rd rd) Without that, if CMC goes down, we’ll be SOL again.
  19. Gen X and Millenials are the first generations to be raised primarily off of processed food w/additives in world history. Most people think that was a post-war 40s/50s thing but processed foods and additives for hygiene and cleaning products only really started to take over in the 70s. There was a really great deep dive into this on Spilled Milk some weeks back. There’s a lot of things that we may find out weren’t so good for us to be stuffing into our bodies. I think a clear indicator is how colon cancer is up so dramatically in both sexes for people under 35 in such a big way. Being a survivor myself, I find it to be a major issue. This is off topic but yep, it’s a concern. Problem also being the worst stuff is the most accessible and inexpensive. Again off topic but it’s interesting. RIP to these young folks
  20. Fair, it’s unfortunate. Took quite a strange turn.
  21. I wasn’t meaning to bring them out of the woodwork, it’s all varying reasons. Just a lot of kids from purely a numbers perspective. It’s just sad for all cases and unfortunate it seems to be more these days for whatever the cause. If anything, it more just broadly stresses the need for us all to look out for each other and just not ourselves. Feel like selflessness and empathy need to hit the forefront these days. Less toxicity and more support for our health and well being. RIP to the kid.
  22. Jeez this stuff is awful this year. There are unusual amount of passings in pro sports for the active/recently active types. Haskins, Swanigan, Gladney, these CFBs, Marion Barber, Adrein Payne, I’m missing some but it seems like unusually high tick up this past year.
  23. We spent a 3rd on Henderson. He may not have shown to be worth pick 9 overall, but he’s looked completely respectable as a pick 70-100 selection.
